So I recently got a P-7805u and I have all the Planet Earth series ask mkv files on my hard drive, they are in 720p. I've had some problems with HD content on this machine before, sometimes the screen will flicker and bands of colors will flash across the screen, and I'm getting that same problem here. When I start the video it plays for about 10seconds and then pretty much freezes up the program (divx player). My games run fine at max settings and full resolution how ever. Anyone know whats up? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

P.S. I got on with the 1920x1200 screens if that has any bearing on this problem.

Download CCCP and use Media Player Classic.

Or just download Media Player Classic by itself.

    End of story, hopefully.

I just tried that, it's still giving me some interesting problems. What I forgot to mention previously is that I always get a message saying that "the display driver has stopped responding and has recovered" Should I try a third party driver?

Have you experienced any problems with playing games on that laptop?

Have tried different video card drivers? Some are meant for only gaming and some are meant for multimedia. Here is a great site: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ .

Every driver works different for every laptop/computer.....

I think I know what you are talking about.... sometimes radical shades of pink or green/etc right?..... You may also just need to update the codecs on your laptop and figure out which ones you would need......incombination with a possible driver upgrade as well.....check out this site

You should watch your temps. I don;t want to cause you panic but that error usually occures when the video driver is having physical issues.

Download Media Player Classic - Homecinema here, http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/

Then, follow this simple guide to accelerate x.264 or h.264 720p or 1080p over your video card. When you use Media Player Classic - Homecinema only 5% of your cpu will be used to decode the movies. It is important to change the option to "EVR custom renderer" in the player to accelerate the movies via GPU.
