Hi.
I have a gateway 450ROG running windows xp sp2. It was working very well, but for no reason my NIC stop working.
I start checking the problem in my network, but everything was good, them i check inside windows and inside device manager, tell me that there was a problem with the device with sign (!).
The NIC is one Intel Pro/1000, i restart my laptop and the BIOS tell me:
Resource Conflict - PCI Network Controller on Motherboard Bus:02, Device:02, Functi:00
I test changing memoria, removing HD, CD-RW, enable - disable COM, LPT, etc, but sometimes works them again return with the same problem, outside windows and inside.
Inside windows i disable some device, but the same situation, start working and the problem return.
I test running FreeBSD livecd, and tell me that he cannot load em0 driver because: EEPROM checksum is not valid.
This machine is running Pentium Centrino 1.5Ghz, 512RAM.
Virus, mmmm i check the antivirus log, but i dont see any log about, is clean.
But i dont know what else to do, or i lost my NIC? This is built-in or i can change the module?
Thanks for your time![]()
The heat can cause this?

The NIC is built in to the motherboard. I have a 450RGH (upgraded from ROG) with the Pro/1000 and I too was having issues with it in the device manager. I ended up downloading the driver directly from Intel, and this solved my issue. Search for Intel Pro/1000 MT at intel.com.
Though based on the description of what is happening to you, the motherboard may need to be replaced. I just sold my ROG motherboard for $90.00 and that seems to be the going rate on ebay. If you do decide to spend the money on a motherboard, do yourself a favor and pickup a 450RGH instead of ROG. Same price, but the RGH supports Dothan CPU's, allows for 2gb RAM vs. 1gb with the ROG, and has a Radeon 9600 64/128mb dedicated vid card.
Good luck! -
Hi teksurv.
The strange thing is some times works, example if i disable the port 1394 and PMCIA ports it works, but if i enable those, start the problem, even went is working the BIOS doesn't show me any errors about.
Now, i try to change the IRQ from those ports but that part is disable in the device manager, looks they don't want us to change that part.
Is possible to do that?
Thanks for your support, i will try the Intel Pro/1000 driver from Intel site and let u know, thanks for your support
