    Hey All

Looking to get to a NV53 for my girlfriend, need your thoughts and experiences.

It's currently selling for $400 CAD at Futureshop in Canada, so it looks like a bargin. She uses it to stream TV, surf and MS Word. So it's not something that I need a power laptop for.

I like that it's cheap, 4 gigs of ram, 500gig HD, has a number pad and has an HDMI port. Should I be concerned about anything in the long term? We're not using this for anything taxing like video games or anything like that. We're primarily concerned about long term stability.

    Thank!

I'm writting this on my mothers NV53A with the Turion P540, its a pretty nice machine, runs well, has decent battery for the price. Of course its not my Asus G60JX but its still sorta snappy and works well.

The only complaint that I have about it is the keyboard, sometimes it just seems like you have to press harder then you should to get the button presses to register, or it may be that i'm used to a lighter touch on my G60JX, who knows.

But all in all I'd say its a pretty nice machine and has a sorta decent HD4250 which is nice.

    I have a pimped out NV53a36u.

    Pros:
    Thin and light, great portability
    great performance
    Good price
    snappy and accurate touchpad
    big island keys on keyboard
will accept quad core cpu upgrades

    Cons:
1366x768 lcd is fine for gaming, but i hate it for surfing the web. to much scrolling to read text.
Cheap and flimsy build quality. I hate the keyboard, spongy key feeling
    its an ugly laptop
    ------
I paid $557 for mine shipped with tripple core cpu, ati 5650 1gb, 320gb hard drive, and 4gb of ram. I upgraded the hard drive and CPU... in the end im on the border of recommending it. Performance wise, yes im happy -- build quality wise id much rather have a toshiba A665 or HP DV6

I'd have to agree with the build quality, the entire laptop to me felt cheap, especially typing on the keyboard.

And how hot are you getting with that triple core CPU and that graphics card?! Seems to me like it would get a little hot!
