Hi, I've been researching for decent laptops under $500, and I came across the gateway NV53A24u model. I like the specs of it, and I THINK that it meets the requirements to play Starcraft 2. However, I do not know much about computers, so I really do not have any idea. I know that the processor speed, RAM, HDD, all meets the requirements, but I do not know if the processor and the graphics card ATI Raedon HD 4250 + 256MB dedicated video memory meets the requirements.

Here are the links: (The first link is the detailed specs, second is the place I will purchase, and the third is the detailed requirements to play SC2)

Gateway Official Site: Shop - Notebooks – NV53A24u Laptop Product Details

    Gateway - Laptop / AMD Athlon™ II X2 Processor / 15.6" Display / 4GB Memory / 320GB Hard Drive - Velvet Blue - NV53A24u

    StarCraft II

On a side note, could someone verify that the best buy gateway model is the same as the specs shown on the gateway site?

It will play starcraft... but the level you want to play it on is the big question. If you are playing it on all low settings with a lower resolution you should be ok... and you can increase things slowly until its unplayable for you.

Your arent going to get stellar results, because nothing about your system is built for gaming. But you can probably get by on low settings if you really want to play

You should be able to play the game fine, only thing is your going to be playing the game at most settings low.

    But totally playable.

I had an MSI laptop with Core I5-430 and intel HD graphics and it played starcraft 2 pretty decent. WIth that in mind i would assume the gateway you mentioned would be even better.

I've heard of people playing SC2 on a netbook (probably a higher end one though cuz my cousin's has 8mb vid mem). I think the game is more CPU dependent and the game uses only 1 core so a dual core with at least 2mb cache would be good.

I would've have liked to play on medium setting but, I suppose it would lag a bit on the gateway laptop. Thanks for the replies everyone! I guess I should just save up a bit before purchasing a laptop.
