I got it before the NV55s04u came out but I was interested in swapping the CPU from the A4-3300M to a A6-3400M for the graphics boost. Metro 2033 plays barely but I think with that it would run much better. They seem about the same thing right? Do you think it could be done? Otherwise I'll wait till a few years when the next generation is out. It's sure to play then smoothly.

Of course I've no idea how to actually open a laptop, no guides around for this one either :O

Any idea how hard it would be to open this particular laptop? And how about the heatsink inside would it correctly disperse the heat the replacement CPU creates?

Well, the NV55s03u is full sized 15" laptop, so I think it can handle the heat. Just use good thermal paste, like Arctic MX-4.

As for how hard the upgrade will be, no one really knows exactly. Taking a look at the pictures, it doesn't seem too hard.

I just bought an AMD A8-3500M APU but from a different seller on ebay since the one linked to has a thread all about them complaining the 3530mx isn't working correctly Click Here I figured why chance it :L There's still an off chance the seller purchased it from the seller I didn't LOL

Anyways, I am not sure I plan to TRY opening this laptop until I have good reason too, like either I wanna new one or try upgrading the APU. It runs alright for now :L It would be one hell'uva a pain without a teardown guide, I'm still hoping someone posts one eventually.

Hey I actually got this working a long time ago. I opened the laptop, took everything out! LOL I replaced the wifi cables with ones from Oxford Tech, a perfect fit they just sit on the side instead of attaching to the top. Did it enhance reception? Not really....... still fun though.

I've taken the laptop apart like 10x, anyways........ it was so to HOT with the A8-3500m, it easily exceeded over 80c in a few seconds, however the vcore was set at a stupid 1.4125! All I did was lower it to 0.9125 for all the vcores except those lower already, I had to leave the 2.4ghz vcore alone though because testing it with Prime95 made temperatures to hot.

anything up till 0.9125 vcore works easily with this A8-3500m, above that idk I never tested it much. this was run for 24 hours with blend mode and furmark running, no crashes. I've had it like this ever since and even upgraded to Windows 8.

So in the end it works and I really want to upgrade to an A10 but I think I'll wait for the 3rd generation APU's instead
