    Hi all,

To make this short, is there a way to check whether this laptop is an i5 instead of an i3 when the computer is turned on for the very FIRST time? I don't want to go through the entire Windows 7 registration process or whatever, I just want to see off the bat what processor it is. I'm buying one and the seller said he'd allow me to check before handing over the cash. I don't want to waste my time going through that process, even if it is an i5. I'd rather do that at home if I buy it. Thanks!

Remember though, I'm turning this computer on for the first time. How would I do that without the computer booting up and wanting me to register and such with Windows 7 for the first time...........you know all of the crap you go through when you turn on a brand new computer. I want to avoid all that and see what processor it has. Is this even possible? Thanks.

Use any linux live distro. Ubuntu. But for that Boot sequence has to be changed. That can be done thru the BIOS(that we you can check it out there aswell) or using function key while it POST possibly F10

Simple, right after you turn it on mash the F2 button on the keyboard till the BIOS screen loads up (blue background-looking screen with white text). The very first page of the BIOS should tell you what CPU it has, i3-330 or i5-430. Once you confirm the CPU just press the power-button again to turn it off. No need to go through the first Windows 7 boot-up process this way. Good luck.

The SKU is 9721671 on the side of the box per previous post on this. Hope that helps. I believe the manufacturer puts the sku on the boxes and not the reseller.

Not in this case. Since its an i5 inside instead of an i3 as mentioned on the spec (box/site).
