The 8800M GTS of the Gateway is still better than the 9500M GS in all those other notebooks. What are you complaining about then?
-
8800m and 9800m are the same chip.
9500m is much slower than both. Slower than a 8600m actually. -
9500m is equal or slightly faster than the 8600m
-
I now that but it the little guys are out now how much longer before the giants come out to play I probley still will not have my Gateway FX damb gateway.... but they are still a pretty good company
-
And the 10 series won't be out til atleast next year.
-
The 9500M is faster than DDR2 8600M GT, but slower than the GDDR3 8600M GT. -
Not quite.
There's no data on the performance of the 9800m.
The 9500m GS runs as fast as the 8600m GT, as they share the exact same specs on paper. I believe the difference is a die shrink. -
Chances are 9800 will murder 8800, maybe 9700 or 9650 is around 8800.
I'm not too concerned, I mean, it did take take a while to get the 8800's out. -
That's how technology works. It's always getting better, and things are getting outdated by the year.

There are a couple of 9800 GTX Benches running around, one of them was from someone really credible who leaked the 8800 GT benches but I don't seem to have it on me:

From everything that I've seen/read the new GTX appears to be just a slightly better G92 8800 GTS 512. even the fabled 9800 GX2 is still only 2 8800 GT's Paired together (Actually 2 PCB's sandwiched, not 2 GPU's on 1 PCB like the 3870x2)
The 9 series is barely even a slight refresh of the G92 Based 8 Series. so you're really not missing out on anything. our G92 Based GTS's are far, far from "outdated" so no worries, just go play =D
I think the 9800 Series Is just going to be rebaged G92 8800 GTS's with a few more shaders. that seems to be Nvidia's way lately. Even our cards (G92 based) are probably 8800 GT's underclocked with some laser cut pipes. While I think the 8800M GTX's are just underclocked GT' with a few Pipes disabled as well.
The last 6 months have been really odd for Nvidia as far as the way they've been branding their products. They would've been better off never releasing the G92 based GTS and GT and just calling them 9xxx. So before the G92 GTS was released we had a GT that was pretty much on par with a GTX, then we had a THIRD GTS released with the 512 GTS. The price was ridiculous between the GTX and the GTS while the power between the 2 was very small.
It's all just really confusing. all in all Enjoy your 8800M GTS as It'll probably still play anything you throw at it enjoyably (except crysis ruiner of worlds.) -
there wont be anything out for another year, like it always has been.
they JUST released these cards, it would be a waste not to let them live their lives out. -
*yawn*
I love how the release of a new card always manages to magically make current cards slower (to some people...). If you bought this laptop to brag about specs, you wasted your time. If you bought this laptop to play every game out there right now, at the best possible settings, you bought the right one. -

I am not complaing I just like to pass along information I think I like my gateway FX it looks cool and specs sound good but I still dont have it.... that is all but I do love the price I paid for it nice i guess it is worth the wait i sure hope so...

MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
The 9 series cards won't really bring too much of a performance increase, instead a smaller die size and less power requirements, so basically it's just better-optimized hardware that runs cooler and is smaller. Same with Penryn mobile processors, they're just smaller and run cooler. Yorkfield processors and 10 series cards will show a huge performance increase over this generation, though, so this isn't really the best time to buy a notebook.

My plan was to buy a notebook now, and then wait until the Intel Calpella chipset is released next year. (Assuming 3rd or 4th quarter 2009.) If Gateway takes too long to ship their laptops I might think of waiting till the Montevina chipset comes out...
I remember when I saw this back in December/January... now it's getting close to the end of March, beginning of April... when it hits May/June, the Montevina chipset will be released, and expecting to see them in laptops maybe two months from then... -
NVIDIA 9series being sold in laptops NOW...
