I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the NX570X. I just ordered one today and feel like I got a steal. Gateway has a $250 instant rebate on it at the moment and a free upgrade to 1GB RAM. My configuration includes a T7200 2GHz 4MB L2 cache C2D and 2GB 667MHz RAM and comes to $1129. Has anyone purchased this computer yet? Thoughts?

eveything looks ok to me except for the video card.

Yeah... I'm well aware of the graphics limitation; I have a desktop with a beefy graphics card that I use for gaming... the laptop is mostly going to be for development and other non-GPU intensive tasks.

I was mostly wondering if anyone else had purchased it yet... the main thing I'm worried about is heat and noise, as I've had problems with noisy laptops in the past and it's one of those things that can't be accounted for in the specs.

The processor upgrade and the extra Gig of ram is probably a waste unless you have a specific need for the extra speed. The base configuration is probably fast enough for most people.

    Just my 2 cents,

Agreed... but most people probably don't run machine learning algorithms on natural language corpora of several gigabytes. ;)
