Most laptops actually have their GPU soldered onto the motherboard. So it is technically dedicated, but it is one with the motherboard.

Hate to say it, but you probably need to replace the entire system board to fix it. Unless GW says otherwise.

how it burned out....i was using the laptop..it instantly jamed! I couldn't do anything...so I reboot it from the button....and that's it! when it restarted nothing on the screen...the guy at the service said it's the graphic card. he is able to take the gpu out so that's why I imagine I can change it!

order new one from gateway...or u can try ebay if u r feeling lucky. just remember it HAS to be gateway's 7900GS..it WILL NOT work with dell, clevo, arima, siemens-fujitsu or any other card. it MUST be gateway's original part (but can be used ;) ) good luck hunting it!

I am about 100% confident that it was due to overheating.... from dust.

Most gaming notebooks needs to be cleaned up (with compressed air and Q-tips) every two months. The fans and vents is where you should focus.... they collect a lot of dust fast and will clog up the airflow if you do not clean them out.

Its an unfortunate event that your card burned out, but now you know the horrors of dust.

You can contact Gateway to see how much it would cost to replace your videocard module.
