Is Speedfan capable of regulating the speed of the NX860XL fans? Also, is it possble to lower the threshold setting for the fans to kick on while running the battery?

    Thanks!

If you're running XP, RivaTuner might work. RivaTuner will not work to control fan speed with Vista.

    From RivaTuner release notes:

"Currently RivaTuner doesn't provide driver-level 2D/3D fan speed control features under Vista due to NVIDIA Vista driver's limitations."

    Please note:
I strongly encourage anyone with this problem to register a complaint with their system manufacturer. No matter how much sympathy you may get from Gateway technicians and customer service personnel, they will not budge on making logical (and simple) system changes based on one or two complaints. I am told however, that they do make changes based on the number of service requests for any given problem catagory/type. Please let them know this is a problem for you.

Have your system serial number ready. It only takes a minute to get to a real person (in North America, no less).
