Hi
I have recently suffer some strange power issues
When I have the power cord connected to the laptop it will randomly disconnect itself and then one second later reconnect and then disconnect and reconnect, and will do this forever. The brightness is affected and it will go from very bright to no bright all the time.
I guess the problem is on the laptop connection because if I force the power cord into the computer it will stop and will stop.
Anyone has had a similar problem or knows how to fix it?

I had a similar problem with my power cord. Look into the dc connector at the end of the power cord that plugs into the computer. I noticed a couple of tabs (not sure of the right word) that were somehow out of place inside it. I messed around with it and they snapped into place. Haven't had a problem since.

thanks for the reply..
i did what you did but when I looked at my at the end of the power cord that plugs into the computer there was nothing wrong with it.
I used a friends power cord and the problem still exists.
I have narrowed the problem to the laptop power socket (not sure of the right word, but the place where you connect your power cord to the computer). I know this because if I force and bend downwards the power cord it will charge. Also if I place some aluminium foil around the power cord and place it to the laptop socket it will charge. But I think this is risky.
I guess what happen was that somehow, the power cord overheated, I just noticed that there's some melting of the plastic around the power socket. I guess this resulted in the socket moving inside and it is now to loose to contact with the power cord.
I have no idea how to fix this. -
thats real bad. do you have a warrenty? could be one of those defective power sockets. powercords arent suppose to overheat the socket to the point of melting. =/

I wasn't aware of the defective power sockets.. Unfortuneally it's already out of the warranty.
Anyway last night I was able to get in touch with gateway support. I chat with one of the guys who was very helpfull.
He agree that the melting of the plastic due to the overheating made the power socket move. I have to send it to a computer store to have it fixed. He also said that I didn't have to replace the whole motherboard. Only the power socket. I hope it won't be very expensive.
