I need a solution (as the title states!) with my GPU, I cannot seem to find any consistency. I tried using drivers from nVidia but that gave me soaring 97ºC after some Bioshock, I went to Gateway's site and got their latest drivers and for awhile I was staying under 70ºC, however now I am creeping towards 79-80ºC when gaming. I ran Crysis benchmark over 50+ times in a row and at one point I got temps of only 70ºC and now its more like 79ºC, the laptop has the back lifted and I was wondering if there was any good explanation for this inconsistency and also if there is any solution....

79C isn't all that bad for the GPU...
Basically thats normal without a cooler with that notebook.

Alrighty, at what point should I start to get concerned? Anything above say 85ºC?
    Thanks

Yea that seems to be a good number. Ive asked this question several times, everyone seems to have different views on this subject. Honestly i try to keep mine between 70-80c under load.

Maybe you should entertain the idea of a cooler. Its documented that they can drop temps as much as 10 degrees.

As far as which one to buy? Look here http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=338866

Thanks I will, another interesting thing is how different the performance is depending on a driver, I tried using Dox's drivers and it gave me terrible performance. In TF2 1920 x 1200 everything maxed I probably was getting under 20FPS outdoors, but with the one's downloaded from gateway got kept me above 30+ FPS in all area's even under heavy fire outdoors or underwater... intereseting

Link? I will sometime, just getting annoying delete + clean + new drivers + reboots, and then doing it again when the drivers suck. :)

theneighborrkid, I know it is mentioned everywhere, but it really makes a difference if you clean out the vents on the laptop with compressed air. Try that if you haven't already.

“ Theorizing that one could time-travel within his own lifetime, Dr. Sam Beckett led an elite group of scientists into the desert to develop a top-secret project known as Quantum Leap. Pressured to prove his theories or lose funding, Dr. Beckett prematurely stepped into the Quantum Accelerator, and vanished.

He awoke to find himself in the past, suffering from partial amnesia and facing a mirror image that was not his own. Fortunately, contact with his own time was maintained through brain-wave transmissions with Al, the project observer, who appears in the form of a hologram that only Dr. Beckett can see and hear. Trapped in the past, Dr. Beckett finds himself leaping from life to life, putting things right that once went wrong, and hoping each time that his next leap will be the leap home.

Yeah buddy. :D I am very hopeful that they will do a good job with it. I am already hearing a lot of negativity so I chose to be positive in my thinking so that I might actually enjoy it. What are you thinking?

I just cut my temps of the GPU by a massive amount...

Al I did was blow compressed air into the left vent. Went from 95c to 65c
