I have a Gateway 7405 GX laptop. I was using it the otherday and it just went dead. It was plugged in to the wall when this happened, but there was no surge or anthing. It just went black, and no matter whatr I tried I could not get it to come back on. It won't work on battery power or with it being plugged in. I left it alone for a couple of days, and then plugged it in the wall and it worked fine for about 2-3 hours then it just went black again, and won't come back on. I get no indicator lights coming on. Usually even when it's off if it's plugged in, the little blue power indicater light is lit, but it's not.

I was telling a guy at work about this and he said it could just be that the battery has completly died. If the battery needed replacing would this happen? Trying to rule out the easiest stuff b/f I have to pay someone to look at it.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Did you try to start it without battery?

I think so, but can't be 100% sure. I will try when I get home. Man it would be great if I haven't and it ends up working.

Sounds like something in the power system is loose or faulty in the computer. If your power brick is plugged in with the battery in the laptop, if the power adaptor cuts out the battery will take over and vise versa. A dead battery is probably not it. Plus if little power was left in the battery windows will warn you to shut down. I wish you luck.
