I bought a 7805u from Best Buy, they had it on clearance for $575, couldn't pass that deal up. I was just wondering what tweaks I should do to it right out of the box. I've read that these can sometimes have heat issues, so any help would be appreciated.

wow. thats awesome. i got mine for $600 off craigslist, but you definitely out did me.

so far ive installed a 1920x1200 LG WUXGA monitor because the 1440x900 wasnt good enough for me. cost $137 off ebay

also i have an intel X9100 on its way to me, so the cpu will see a nice boost soon. cost $310 off ebay

the heat is nothing to worry about. however if its uncomfortable you can get a Zalman NC2000 (or 1000 it you wanna save a few bucks, but its smaller). it keeps it ice cold, but overheating is never a problem i ran into (even when playing games with the laptop on my bed, a big no-no) tho having this cooloer doesnt mean you can use it on your lap so.....

for tweaks you should download the latest version of ntune/nvidia system tools from their website. that will allow you to OverClock it, but definitely read this first:

if you have any more questions just ask :)

Was that price from a college-town Best Buy? I'd bought a 7811 for 940.00 back when they were 1400, because in a college town all the kids want portable computers and those were too big to sell well according to the manager.

It was a chainwide clearance that started 7/23. I got the last one on the western side of Michigan. The only way to check is to go in to the local BB and have them look it up. They can check if any are available in the area. I have no idea how big each area is, but like I said, the one here was half the state.
