5.8? even the ps3 is only 4.6, I think you would spawn an AI

hey if my 6860 spawns the birth of sky net then i'll be remembered, through out history, as the father to the revolution
-
That's quite a big title to hold, Kamin.
EDIT: Gateway Escalated support, they are very polite and friendly people. Not being very helpful, but it's almost hard to be mad at this guy because he has the demeanor of a puppy dog. I'm being equally polite, in hopes I can work him for the email to Wistron -

If you cant get 3.0gHz (the gateway current max) then i would call gateway and start talking to them about which BIOS is supposed to handle 3.0... no use having a CPU that cant use all available power.
Out of curiosity... why the swap from 6860 to 7811 if you were going to run the x9000. With it basically down clocking the rest of your system you really only got a new computer for a slight boost in GPU clock speeds. Doesnt seem like the 4% gains you would get there to be that huge of a deal for the investment -
-
Also, I am curious if the PB bios will allow me to overclock, but I'm thinking since the x9000 has only 800mhz bus they probably thought why would someone put a 800mhz bus cpu in this laptop. Anyways, I'm guessing there is no overclocking any with this laptop sad because it is a nice built machine. I will probably sell any way in 6 months or so kind of hoping AMD will wake up and get something good out there add some cheaper competiton yet. -
Holy rep points smok3dog you have 5 posts and 6 Rep Power. You must have the mother of all posts somewhere!

Nope. I might have the number wrong, but you get bonus rep points for being a member of the forums. You dont think post count and "hopefully" accumulating 250 reps from people were the only way to get them did you?
I'd have to check the FAQ (a really neat source of info) to be sure but if i remember correctly its every 100 days. I just recently got a boost from the time based one as well. -
-
What alitunay ... no cousins who have computers? -
I tought about putting my listings in there but it would just occupy the 90% of the forums bandwith. Actually, I now have a sager 5793 and try to get a ocz whitebook.

Hm...Might be a little off-topic, guys? Anybody have tried this BIOS yet? I bet the ACPI has also changed, but since I am doing some serious projects I can't try yet(esp others reported they needed to install everything.)
Quad, BMW or E-wreck, did you guys try to use the recovery DVD to restore the system? Does it work(Coz I know recovery processes require the system info be matched as well)? -
The recovery would probably work but no i didnt try it after i installed the PB bios . It hoses your slic table leaving your current vista install unactivated but the restore should still work you would just have to activate windows after the restore (speculation) . I didnt keep the bios on my machine because i dont have a quad nor a OCable CPU so didnt really see the need atm . I may toy with it in the next few days to see if i can spike the TZS0 to 98c .Worst case scenario if the recovery dvd was looking for something specific in the bios would be just to restore an old bios and then go back to the new one etc.
-
-
I did not see any TBH but then again i dont have a CPU that would have given me the choice so it may very well show up once you have a capable cpu in there.
-
I still cant believe i've only been repped 6 times..and half of you were the reps
(Im a day behind here, lemme catch up dammit) - Oh and the new BIOS will kick your registered version of vista back to a trial. Just use the serial on the bottom of the rig. And no, you can't overclock the CPU past 3.0GHz, still. Yes, it supports quad. And if someone would like to test it with TZS0, i think it may resolve it.
Dang, lots happens in these threads in a day or two. -
-
I got some free rep movement for the past several months
and evidentally you got some rep recruitin to do.. u been here for over a year and a half!
EDIT: MTV just cut into the "An MTV Concert for the BRAVE"..cause Ludacris was doin "Throw them Boes".. guess MTV couldnt keep up with editting the word "hoes" and "boes" properly. Thank you live TV -
Actually I really only became active because of the 7811. Before that I just asked a couple questions. I let the rep chips fall where they may.
Oh and Dook was a hoot so I decided to stick around. -
Again thanks for your help. Your the best. -
yea, you two seem to get along well. By the way, how did you edit your lil title under you name?
-
no, I'm not the best..thanks for the compliment tho. The PB BIOS is supposed to support quad. not any of the 9c. BIOSes.. Gway doesn't support quad, yet. Likely there will be support further down the road. Heck, Im sure once mainstream everyone will support it, or lose market share -
-
lol your so modestI noticed you removed the link to the PB bios. Could you please pm me the file at your convenience?
-
I would have repped you more E- but it wont let me atm .
-
lol Quad.. +rep for being nice
- errr..gotta spread more love. w t f? it has been a minute since reppin ya!

Hey E, was the only issue the windows activation thing? I'd still love to have ocing ability (if I purchase a x9100 that is).
-

E-wrecked,(re:7811FX) can you post links to your post(s) that have pictures of the differences between the ser 2887 and 2888? You know, the GPU fan/shrould, cpu sinks etc. I can get a 2887 cheap but I think I'll want to upgrade the cooling. If you have any quick pointers about those cooling upgrades that would be great too. MANY THANKS and props.
-
I wish that I could, but all my pics and such that I had are long gone. And, 2887, 2888.. you're likely not going to notice a difference. I think the only real reason the 2887 caught a bad rap was the lack of RAID originally. Heck, then people smashed on it for other, minor, uneducated reasons(including me). And, if you notice.. people really don't have reported problems with the 2887 anymore. And most, that have had it since the beginning, are reporting complete satisfaction and never had an issue. Sometimes, like the media(which we forumers kinda are), things are taken out of context..or blown way out of proportion(sp?). And yeah, if Im looking for a new rig..and I see numerous threads reporting issues and problems, then I'm gonna take that into consideration. Until you look deeper, and realize those problems are just hiccups, then you'd never know different. But, just like mainstream media and common consumers.. most people see the forest, but not the trees. Humman cattle, it happens. Anyhow, sorry for the tangent. But, if you got a good deal..then don't hesitate cause of the serial. And even with the different heatsinks, they used 2 types in the 2887 anyhow. Enjoy your 7811FX, regardless of it's setup

I agree with E, I love my 2887 and I've never had so much as a hiccup.
-
Yep mine has been perfect since day one, never a lockup or any other major problem . Now someone buy it from me
-
otherwise, i could have arranged a meet earlier this week as i was back in michigan to take care of some personal business. -
E-wrecked: thanks for comments...before I even got your post I drove from Orlando to Daytona and got a p2888 from BB for $1014.99 clearance!
they had excess inventory. I think there are about 5 or 7 now. the best price in Orl was 1250. I talked all this over with the respective managers and they explained they have a firm system to pricing clearance and only Daytona met the criteria for lower price. Kinda silly. They wouldnt ship it or anything. the only solution was to go get it. I was tempted to get a couple more and resell them, they said they would give me more, but i thought Id leave them for other people. so 2 hours driving saved me $200. Im pretty stoked for now, we'll see how it runs. Ill check back ina few days. -
Good deal man! Congrats!Enjoy the new rig!
New BIOS for 7811FX? Quad-support, Overclockable, G15-D10, are you ready?
