I posted the same question quite a while ago on this forum, but I need your help again. I need to upgrade to a new CPU soon, but I'm quite inexperienced in that particular field, so I would like some advice on which CPU I should go for. Also, is it possible to change the GPU of the P-6831? I haven't taken a look inside yet, but I don't remember anything about it being easy, so if you know anything about that, please reply as well.
Thanks!![]()
EDIT: Also, I haven't checked yet, but what exactly does socket mean? Yeah, I know these are stupid questions, but I'm not that into CPUs.

Looks like you can put a T9300 in it.
As for the GPU, that's soldered in and is not replaceable. -
I have a T9300 in mine, runs great. I hear that for everything but the heaviest processing (video conversion, etc.) the T8300 is just about equal, but at a much lower price.
Changing it out is beyond easy, there's a cover for the CPU right on the back. Remove that, unlock the locking screws for the heatsink and remove (carefully), unlock and remove the CPU, install the new CPU, clean off the heatsink and put new heatsink compound on it (I used Arctic Silver), and reassemble. Should take 10 minutes tops.
Check the Disassembly sticky thread up there, I think it has instructions with pictures and everything. -
t8300, t9300, t9500, x7800, x7900, x9000
x processors have unlocked multi so you can overclock in bios to 3.0 but the negative is they tend to run hotter (well except for the x9000). -
This will help:

Now, does anyone know if 8gb (4x2) 667mhz of ram work on a p-6831fx?
Does it need a Bios upgrade?
And very last, where can I find the Nvidia updated driver?
Thanks.

does the 7900 run hotter then the 7800? im curious to know the benefit of a 7900 over a 7800 if there is any. i plan to OC to 3.0 regardless.
