New FX Laptop GTX 470M

Has anybody found any information or leaks about any new upcomming gateway fx models? I'm about to buy the ASUS because gateway like the retards that they are post a model thats 2 years old. They don't even post their latest model with the gtx 260m on their website.

Anybody who works at best buy maybe here anything about getting new gaming laptops for december??

 

I love my FX's, but I would go with a ASUS G73 no questions asked.

 

do you have any rumor that there is a new fx gateway?

I thought the model was canned after acer bought them. The ODM of the fx model is not a part of the acer companies.

I don't know everywhere i look all i read about is problem with this stopped working, I was hoping gateway would come up with a new fx and hopefully with a gtx 470 in it.

I don't think gateway is going to use a gtx 470 if they make a new FX, maybe a gtx 460 but I would say if they were to make a new one it would have amd/ati graphics to keep the price down.

 

What a misleading tittle...I used to have a P7805 but this G73 just blows it out of the water. There is no use waiting for a new FX when there are other affordable options in the market.

 

I have G73 and miss Fx7811. Hoping Gateway steps up.

 

yea idk nothing against ASUS but reading that you need to flash vbios to get the thing to work, isn't very appealing. Or installing things like avg and having it screw up the whole system.

Not saying that gateway would be any better, i would just like to have some options instead of just ASUS. Basically most likely i am going to get the ASUS anyway, unless gateway comes out with a chassis like ASUS with the fans pulling in the air from the front, because i really don't like having to put something under my laptop to raise it to get proper airflow.

But i think its very unlikely they have done that or if the gpu will be able to compete with the 5870, unless they use it themselves. I'm just going to wait and see, and if nothing comes out going to pick up a g73jh-x1 refurbished when they come out.

 

I am still on stock Vbios. I have not had one GSOD or crash in any game since I have had my G73. I think Asus worked out the bugs in the jh-b series. I still miss my gateway fx though.

 

Mine is the BB version and the first one I got had the GSOD. I just took it back to BB and exchanged it for a perfect one.

 

Yeah mine is a best buy model also.

what is the quickest way to test for gsod and any other defects? what software would be the best to do it?

 

BC2 caused GSOD for me. Furmark for many others.

 

I owned a 6831 fx and a now i have a g72

Very similar machines in terms of quality. Howeveer the g72 is BIG the 6831 was much thinner.
Both great top end machines.

the odm of the fx series was foxconn, which makes the iphone and a macbook or two.

They actually make some asus models now. Not the g series.

ACER is the former parent company of the two odms compal and wistron. they dont usually crank out small run computer they crank out million run laptops. Not top end gamer card laptops etc.

 

wistron does make the alienware 15x and acer travelmates.

 

IDK its december already and best buy still has the same gaming laptops 1 asus, and 3 old alienwares, hopefully in 2 weeks or so we see something else.

There hasnt been one in over a year.

Gateway no longer lists any fx models on its site.

Its top end is called the nv and it has a ati 5650

there wasnt an fx with a ati 5870, or a 460 so why would there be one with a 470 gtx
