Interesting. The first link doesn't work though, and the second one doesn't say what the graphics card will be. I wonder if they're sticking to the 9800 or if they'll move up to the GTX2** series. I doubt that exact model will be released in the US though. I think it's been discussed that the Japanese are a lot more fond of their blu ray than Americans are.

First link isnt working for me...

Whats the difference in 7808 and that? Oh does that mean they might keep this one out longer?

    1440 x 900 eh?
I think the 1920x1200 replacement screen on ebay are gonna be very popular for this model.

I like the new lid graphic and the CPU/GPU combo.

At 1465 euro (about 2000usd) its a bit expensive. Prohibitively so in all honesty

They will probably have to drop it to 1800ish to really sell it like the previous FX's sold.

Though i would have rather had 2x 260GTS in SLI for the same power consumption and better performance :p

I am pretty sure, these are going to sell more like $1400 in US. They will be in the direct competition to the Asus G71g model. I would take gateway any day of the week to an asus, but that is me.

It says 1465 Euros, which works out to about $2064 USD as of right this moment.

here's hoping the bios will allow for OCing and is transferable to older FX models.

The lid graphic is sick :). Good to see they're moving up to newer gfx models. I won't be shopping for a new laptop for at least another 2 years, probably closer to 3, but progress is always good to see. Now if only they'd improve their warranty support along with the products...

I am pretty sure the chassis will be the same since this is the same body style with different colour. I am just hoping that they will put a better BIOS which allows OC. Everything else can stay the same and I will be happy.

This is old, I think I saw this on this forum days ago. Besides, No purpose buying one if its over $1400. The Asus G51/G71 is a much better option for a better value imo. However Im very disappointed in all companies for included these low res screens that should be in thin and light notebooks not gaming laptops.

I saw this at Futureshop today here in Canada. I think it was retailing for around $1700 CAD.

I recall not being impressed with the resolution.

I am confused...(and new to the notebook market and lived in a cave). Acer owns Gateway?

And yes...resolution is meh. I am so glad I have 1900x1200.

at least Gateway should bump up that resolution up to 1680 or 1600 something if it is going to be over 1600. such high specs and only 1440x900 is only wasting the gpu.

is $1600 the list price or the offering price where it is being sold?

1440x900 displays are cheap, and Gateway figures if people want 1080p or 1200p, they'll buy a third-party display they don't need to replace/stock/warranty.

Hopefully there will be a better model then that with a faster CPU or something and a 19x12 screen...

Also, not updating the chassis at ALL is irritating. Nothing wrong with the current chassis IMO, but c'mon, this one is already a few years old right? Make something new.

I think that's due to the horrible resolution. I could be wrong though.

Correct. Blue-Ray software requires at least 1680x1050 resolution.

720p? You can still do HD on lower res monitors, just not FULL HD.

Logitech, do you have a direct link for that Gateway over @ NCIX?

I just mentioned one in the 'what should I buy forum' but it's a P7350 with a 260M GTX. The 2.0Ghz processor has me hesitating since I'm not sure if it's going to bottleneck the 260 GTX

Oh wow, thats a stellar deal above, $1300 CAD, it wont bottleneck it that much, should max almost everything at that resolution.
