AH, what a shame. At least they are staying low priced anyway. But I dont really see the point of getting on if youve already got a 78 model.

The P 7809u FX was released in Singapore as P 7809g FX about a month ago.

gateway is making some good laptops these day.

readability, performance. price, but the support is not that good. we need more drivers from them, not modded drivers.

still haven't had a single problem with my gateway and i hardly ever turn it off.

Yeah, and calling the 7807u "new" just ain't right - it was being sold by J&R months ago.

09u adds the P8700 CPU to the mix, otherwise nothing really new other than the knowledge that Gateway is continuing the FX P-78xx series for at least a little while longer.

There getting worse with there FX line. Why do they continue to use the same design and the faulty 9800m GTS.
Most other companys are using the new GPU chips. I heard they were supposed to be using the GTS 160m..

Yeah. Now that I looked at the specs again, it's not too exciting :( Just nice that they're continuing the line. :)

I checked their site at 1 last night, and these were on there. The page wasn't loading, and I was shaking the computer :D

idk. prolly in a week or two.

Also, since they're basically the same as before, do you think that they're gonna be lighter or have a better screen?

It's the same chassis and the same hardware, except for the CPU, so it will not be lighter.

I doubt they are going to have the HD screen, as they are the newest batch and probably all old batches have been sold. Who knows, I guess no, but I don't know for sure.

Don't the specs show the 1440 x 900 screen on both of them?

This is a little disappointing. I was really hoping for 260M graphics. I guess I'll have to look a little more at the ASUS.

You can still get refurbished 7805 at the TigerDirect, which you could upgrade with 2.80-3.06GHz processor. ;)

So Gateway doesn't release drivers. But doesn't Nvidia just do that now? Would I be better off with those than customs (eg. DOX?)

He didn't say they didn't release drivers, just that we'd like the to release what we feel would be "more" or newer ones.

On the other hand, by not having specialized "Gateway" drivers, for example, the most current Nvidia drivers should work.

I previously had a Dell notebook which required Dell drivers. Somewhat frustrating when you see that there are updated video drivers but you can't run them because you have to wait until Dell "adjusts" them for your product.

Yeah... the new ones right... the ones that overheat faster than any other laptop on the market right now? No thanks.

These "new" Gateway laptops are what we call "refreshments" before we get the main course later. Also, some of us had our hearts set on the 7805u's but you can't find them anymore new. So it's great they popped out these ones for those who were still interested in the 7805u because the specs are about the same with just faster CPU's. I wanted a 7805u but can't find them anymore, so the 7807u is right up my alley ;)!
