I am the proud owner of a new 6862 and it's pretty neat, but I had a few questions I was hoping someone here knew the answers to:

    1. I setup my wireless connection but would also like to enable a MAC (Media Access Control) address on my Linksys router. Does anyone know how to locate the MAC address on a 6862? I did a search in the Gateway docs for MAC and nothing came up.

    2. I was unable to play YouTube videos... I get an error saying that either java must be enabled or I need the latest version of Flash. When I tried to get the latest Flash it said there was not a version available for Vista 64 bit. Can anyone suggest a solution for this? I realy don't want to downgrade to 32 bit if I can help it.

    Thanks!

find the network card you are interested in (wifi/ethernet) second entry id physical address that the MAC

    2. not sure runing vista x86 but 32bit browsers should work just fine on x64, i guess someone else will give you better answer...

you don't need an x64 flash or java player just go download the lastest version. it will work. as far as mac address, royk50 is right on.

btw mac security on wireless is pretty useless as it doesn't take a lot of work to fake a mac address and it's easy to see your unencrypted traffic over wifi to actually pull your mac out of there. you really should be using wpa2/aes (at least).

It doesn't mean Flash won't work on Vista 64, it means Flash won't work on the Internet Explorer 64 bit that is loaded. There is also a 32 bit version of Internet Explorer loaded, use that or --- even better--- download Firefox.
