Just wanted to know if anybody had tried this on a P-172X FX laptop. My laptop's BIOS version is 94.29.00, and I really want to get VT enabled on it.

Just flashed my P-6831FX successfully, but am not seeing any options for VT in the BIOS settings. Am I missing something?

BTW my laptop sits at R01-A1P from the build notes, I don't see why this BIOS update would not work, but I would want to know if anybody else has attempted it.

Duh, nevermind. Never upgraded my CPU, so I don't think it supports it anyway.

hm, may be more interested in that VT worked in the x64 'environment' and if i had an extreme cpu, but right now bios 94.29 seems fine, is the actually the final bios (94.31) for 6XXX series?

Well I can't believe I took the risky move into the unknown, but I flashed my P-172X FX with this BIOS update and it does work. I was pretty confident that this would work since both the P-17* series had been following the same BIOS as the P-6000 series, but my heart was sure pounding during the flash. But I now have VT enabled =)

He means that you can't run it under Windows. The original dos bootable media was a floppy disk. Since we're talking about laptops which generally don't have a floppy (I bought a 15.00 USB floppy years ago, so I am good to go :p ) you need to either make a bootable CD or a bootable USB stick. These both take some effort, but it's easy to find the guides on them here or via Google.

I upgraded my 172x-fx with this BIOS yesterday and all went well...almost.

My BIOS now shows 94.31 as the version and I have the option to enable Virtualization Technology, however when I boot into Windows 7 and attempt to run Windows XP Mode, it tells me that Advanced Hardware Virtualization Technology is still disabled in the BIOS.

I've rebooted and verified multiple times that the BIOS says it's enabled, but it appears to be a false switch and not actually turning anything on. Either that or Windows 7 simply isn't seeing it for some reason.

You need to completely power down the system. Then turn it on and boot in to Windows and you'll be fine.

Sorry to drag up an older thread but I need VT on my P-173xl-fx. Will this bios work with it?
