Hey guys, well I have had my gateway NV7901u since march 23. It was running good, ran all games i threw at it perfect on medium to high settings. My idle was around 30 to 40. The problem started about 1 week ago when I would play my regular games like call of duty4 and such. Than out of nowhere it would shut down. Than now and days when I check my idle temp it is 60 to 70.. never below 50. Do you guys think I got a problem here? And oh yeah don't tell me to clean my laptop its 3 months old i check it spotless clean.

Are you playing on a solid surface or something soft like a bed?

Has the computer sufferes a hard knock or fall or anything like that?

And i tell everyone to clean their computers, 90% of all heat issues are the end users fault for not cleaning the machine :p
But its good to know that you have that taken care of and keep a good cleaning regiment ;)

The laptop is always on my fan grill even when I go on m bed. Sigh its 100% im pretty sure my laptop is broken. I just emailed gateway and showed them my problem, even took some screen shots. Another question I have is.. Do you think its okay if i still use my laptop even tho its always 60-70c and never under or over usually.

Are you sure the fan(s) are working? To have that large of a sudden jump it seems like something caused the fan to break/stop spinning correctly.

Though if you're willing to take it apart it might be something as simple as a poorly done job on the thermal paste and reapplying that would fix it.

Not getting to see it i dont know. Just having high temps isnt enough info to really diagnose anything
