I remember reading on here about how gateway was going to release some new laptops (had leather straps on the front) anyone know the status of these notebooks?

i guess thats what your talking about. -

Deezam. That looks pretty nice! And it's got a lighted keyboard! I'd hit it.

Ya its very nice looking indeed . To bad they dont say much about what video card is in there but im going to take a wild guess and say it will end up with a 9600 series card, but hopefully they put something beefier in there for the hardcore people as well.
 -

Indeed. They do mention (somewhere in one of the articles) both integrated and discreet graphics will be offered. I'm wondering if they are gonna go with both aka hybrid. If so, does the 9800 even work with that?
 -

Im sure they could design the motherboard to do it like the M15x alienware but knowing gateway that would be asking to much and seeing as its not really a true portable ie 15 and smaller it will probably be one or the other as the idea of having hours and hours of battery usually is not a concern of DTR notebooks, even though plenty of people want a 17inch with 4 hours of battery . The glass screen on there sounds totally cool though .

Yea. Good point. I would totally consider this bad boy if they put a 9800 in it. Hell, I still may, depending on price, even with a 9600 in there. I tried to get back into gaming all willy-nilly, but I just can't seem to get into it as much as I did when I was younger. I beat Crysis and COD4, got halfway through Bioshock and lost interest. LOL. I'm now back to playing Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 when I get bored. My ceiling fan could run that.

Speaking of ceiling fans running games.
Lol i heard the best quote the other day
"My microwave has more ram then the Nintendo Wii"
As for gaming im right at the end of bioshock now and i bought it the first day it came out on PC. i find if i slap on some headphones and turn the TV off i can play and beat all my games , its just when i have to many distractions i lose interest fast. -

Haha. What an awesome quote.
 -

I used to have a list of quotes I've heard strangers say while walking past them... can't remember a lot but I think one was like "A kryponite condom, THAT'll kill him."

Just rep'ed Quad in a love spreading maneuver.

Backlit keyboard ..YUMMY!

ntel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD? omg.. il play crysis on it with ultra high settings..
 -

Ya its a turd for gaming sadly .
 -

Definitely playable if you are the Slowsky Turtles!
"You push it... Real good!" -

Well it's good compared to most of the other integrated graphics cards that I've seen. You could actually play games (from a few years ago). That's more than you could say for most, integrated cards. But I'll stick with my 8800gts. Here's the link if you want to see the specs: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Graphics-Media-Accelerator-4500MHD-GMA-X4500MHD.9883.0.html

How, can such a beauty... NOT be a gaming monster? Being the nerd that I am, I simply dont understand why theyd pull a stunt like this..

Thats a really sweet looking laptop...to bad it does utterly suck at any real games and the 16in irritates the crap out of me.
Bring that out with a 9800 and a 17in(or 20in with 3 hard drives even better) version and i'd actually drop my 6860 for it
New Gateway laptops?
