Just picked up an M-6881 for $467, and instead of the spec'd T5750 it has a T7500. Nice surprise that's been mentioned in a short thread here before as well as on several deal sites.

Anyway, it's got that infamous CPU whine. It's within my range of being tolerable but just barely. I am considering doing an exchange but my fear is getting one that is even worse. I've been Googling for a long time now and see there are a few solutions like disabling the C4 sleep state or using RMclock. I am on battery often and would prefer not to use fixes in which battery life takes a hit.

I really like my new M-6881 and there's no way I'm going to find another T7500-equipped laptop for under $500.

Thoughts? I know this problem is a common tale across all brands with most Intel chips so I'm inclined to just live with it.
