tough call there. i tried to get the x7900 bu got out bidded so i just hit buy it now on an x9000

they seem to run fairly close and both can be clocked to 3.4 ghz and run fine. from what i have seen and checked out. ...but im thinking that the x9000 has to be a tad bit faster with the extra cache and it's newer technology and less heat..... and eaither chip is gonna run anything you throw at it at this point in time....next month is something different.... :)

just wondering, does the high performance option in the power plan window increase any fps? i'm trying to run crysis with 2*AA and 3 setting on high. but i just won't go higher than 20 fps

    "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Bin32\Crysis.exe" -dx9

this will run it as dx9. you should get more frames that way.

You can right click on the shortcut and pick dx9 or dx10 too.

Do any of u know how much different an extreme processor(either of the two) would really be that much different from the T9300? I am trying to justify the price difference but don't know if it is worth it. I do a lot of gaming and video editing which does require a decent processor. I also was wondering if the T9300 could pretty easily handle any strategy game paired with the 8800 gts? Thanks

    flynnaz,

thanks for the feedback, just to confirm here. When one plans to use the 6860 for long periods of gameplay connected to AC power, that is when I pull the battery out of it? Or do i only pull the battery out after it has been charged for a long period of time and completely full, but u are planning to just leave the laptop plugged in, but turned off?

Also, has anyone compared the T9300 vs the ?8100? to see the difference?

about a 5 to 6 second difference between the two using wprime.

    x9000 vs t9300
    3.0 2.5 ghz
    6 6 cache

and of course the main thing....the x9000 is an over clock able chip and the t93 isn't so in the right machine, you can run 3.4 ghz

so if you can catch a x7900 chip around the same price, then i would probally go for that one over a t9300 or a t9500.

but everything is based on what you want and what you can afford.....

hrbngr... do a search for that...they have threads about it im sure...

hrbngr, I would charge your battery, plug in your laptop, use it. Every once in a while, put the battery back in, use it till it runs really low, change it, and repeat the above. I don't know how much it really helps the life of the battery, but I have read a few posts on it.

I went from 3gb to 4gb on two of my machines, no noticeable difference, ram's cheap right now and if your going to run a 64bit OS, then buy some.

I was just about to ask this same question. Has anyone dumped better RAM in and noticed any performance difference whether it be gaming or not?

Yea i was trying to make it a good deal. I was going to use it then i thought, i don't even use the 320gb in my desktop so i know i won't need 2 of them in my notebook. I just ordered a T9300, thats probably all i'll do to it.

I just ordered the WD3200BEVT for $116.14 from Compuplus.com. What's the big deal? Well, go to ebillme.com and there is a $25 rebate off of an order of over $100 from Compuplus. It'll take 4-8 weeks to see my $25 bucks back, but that'll bring it down to $81 with shipping! :)

:) Late night math... Thanks for the correction. I ordered the hard drive last Sunday from comp-U-plus and it delivered today, Saturday. It took it a couple extra days for the order to process through the Ebill web site, but for the $25 rebate - it'll be worth it. Now we'll see how long the rebate takes when I send it in the mail Monday. :p

I look forward to your post around Christmas, stating you received it. :p
I hate rebate companies. They always take forever.
