    Hello All

I recently purchased a new samsung 830 256 gb SSD and was hoping I can get some advice on the best way to install the SSD to my P-172X and format and configure the drive. I plan to do a clean windows 7 professional 32 bit or 64 bit install. All my files currently have been backed up to a NAS. Step approach would be appreciated for formatting drive.

Also there are 2 bays for the hard drive, does it matter which one i install the SSD into?

    Can I leave one in so i have 256gb SSD + 160GB 7500 rpm?

Any suggestions on Win Install 32 bit vs 64 bit? for 64 bit can the ram be increased to 8Gb

Apologize for all the noob questions but would Appreciate any help, thanks

All that is required is to throw the drive in there (doesn't matter which slot), hit F2 and go into the BIOS and set the SSD as the first boot drive.

Make sure the W7 DVD or USB stick is in the computer. Then save your progress (F10). It will restart. Hit F10 while it is booting up, select the install device (DVD or USB).

It will automatically recognize the SSD drive and ask to create a partition. Once you say yes, you will have two partitions. One that is 100MB and the other is the remainder of the SSD. Select the remainder of the drive, click Advanced. Hit format, say yes to wiping everything. It will be done in 3 seconds, maybe less.

Then proceed the install. If you use a USB stick for the install, combined with the SSD I would bet it takes 3 minutes to install all of W7. Magical.

Yes, you can leave the old drive in there, but I would take it out for the install. Just to keep things simple and avoid accidentally formatting it.
