    Congrats...

I just got my Gateway P-7908 and I'd like to buy that processor but wanted to ask you first,

How are the temperatures after installing the new cpu, are they stable?

What can you tell us about the Before/After performance change in terms of game play, system start up, loading apps, etc... ?

I did the same thing that andros_forever did although I ordered mine a couple of months ago. I would have to say i have no regrets about getting it. I had no problems running the games I played before the upgrade and after, since the upgrade, computer is faster. Temps are good, with undervolting I run around 90-100F doing normal stuff and under gaming I don't think I've seen it go over 130F for the CPU, The TZS0 is around 110F normal and under gaming can get as hot as 160F for me using Everest to gauge the temps. Most of the time I'm just playing on the net and what not the CPU runs at .83GHz and gaming and such it cranks itself to 3.06GHz

It's a great price for the CPU and it's an amazing buy, no regrets whatsoever since this computer should be good for a few more years in terms of gaming.

So all in all it runs a little hotter than the stock CPU but the little extra heat is well worth it....at least 4 me.

    Wow.
I never thought I would get such an amazing boost to my gaming through this upgrade. I thought it would be a little better, but man... the games I tested so far run so much smoother (GTA 4, Fallout 3, Left 4 dead) it's a totally different experience. Having no traces of stutter or lag on highest settings really give an amazing experience and I will post 2 or 3 new videos tomorrow as soon as I install my new ISP, since the one I am using right now is too slow and unstable to make a successful upload to youtube. I would say fps in GTA 4 went up 10-15 while being able to use full rez + full shadows which I could not do before with the p8400. Temperatures are staying in the 40 degrees Celcius after hours of gaming today. Idle temps are around 25 degrees. Installation was a piece of cake thanks to the video I linked on my OP. I will keep you guys updated on this fantastic upgrade :)

Whoa. I wasn't sure how to compare your values in Farenheit as opposed to my values in Celcius at first, but now after doing the conversion I see that your temps are much higher than mine. What kind of thermal compound did you use when you installed the CPU? I am not even undervolting yet and have to go over the 104 Farenheit value after hours of playing Crysis and GTA 4. And as for what I used, it's what came with the HP parts package and they refer to it just as "Thermal Paste" without giving it a proper name. On the Syringe itself I can read Shin-Microsi written on it and it's a gray fairly thick paste that I spread on top of the cpu from the top of the silver area to the bottom, making sure NOT to apply the whole syringe amount but only what was necessary in my opinion (and from what was said in the video link). It seems that not using too much paste can help with temps as I run very cool as of today. Oh and did you make sure to clean both the CPU and Chipset well before applying the new paste on both?

I used the stock thermal paste that came with the CPU, I used all of it on the CPU and didn't do anything to the chipset....maybe that's where the problem is, it had the thermal pad that came stock with the computer on it still. Should I go get some thermal paste and redo both the CPU and than clean and apply some of it to the chipset...by the way what does the chipset do? Would the chipset effect the temps of the CPU at all?

I think the Chipset is a vital part like the CPU and must be kept cool. I would suggest opening your machine back up and cleaning the thermal paste on the CPU and doing it over again following the instructions from the video link I posted in the OP. I think it is vital to put paste on the Chipset just like on the CPU or you will experience very high temps. And do make sure not to overuse the thermal paste, just enough to cover the surface once flattened.

Well I suppose I will go ahead and give it a try and, I have some Arctic Silver Céramique do you think that is good paste for this computer? I see Arctic came out with some new paste called "Matrix" heard anything good about that paste?

Received my T9900 today and installed it without a hitch. Seems to be running around 28 C. So far, so good.
