I like my 177.92 for now, but if results are great then I think I'll switch.

OEM drivers are rarely speed demons and are generally geared more towards stability.

My 3dMark Vantage scores straight from the store versus these new drivers:

    GPU: 1726 CPU: 4457

    GPU: 2019 CPU: 4449

So, are these drivers any better than the stock ones?

To further the question, are these drivers a recommended upgrade from the 176.92 drivers? I'll take stability over speed (as long as it isn't a hugee speed loss)

Okay, now on the Performance setting in 3dMark Vantage, I am getting:

    GPU: 3346 CPU: 4440

These are much, much higher scores than I got with the stock drivers.

WOW... so Gateway DOES know we (and the 7811) exist! Signed in with my serial number and for the very first time there was a section for Vista64 drivers... which included said 176.15 nVidias. Yay... progress!

Now my big question is which brave soul running the 177.92s will go first installing and benching the new "official" set???

(Steps back carefully three paces, becomes fascinated by own feet and interesting cloud formations).

Will these work for the 8800 gts as well? Would they be a significant improvement over the 174.74?

Just installed the new driver and ran 3dmark-06 and scored an 8732 not my highest mark actually my lowest but I will see how it runs. Question for the masses. Can anyone tell me why 3dmark-06 sees my front side bus as only 266mhz? Also sees my memory as ddr-2 667mhz?

I was just reading on some other thread here that DDR3 is not properly identified everywhere yet, though it works as fast as it is supposed to. Bios thingy maybe? Can't recall.

there's another GPU thread on here for the 7811FX.. not to steal love from this one! But I suggest checking out Xfastest's 177.85 for this rig. I'm about to try the new release and I'll report back with how it compares to the 3dmarks you see in my sig.

EDIT: the OEM driver let me OC a bit more with best results yet. Not sure I can push this thing much more until I can OC the CPU. 3dmark snapshot is below..as these are not certified by Orb. Go figure. NOTHING IS! P.O.S :)
