I updated to them. But haven't gamed on them at all. Was averaging mid 70s with the 285 drivers in Darksiders, medium settings. Will report what I get when I play with the new drivers.

did update my drivers for the 9800MGTS, so if you are I recommend do a custom installed with a fresh install. If you do Recommended it will not install correctly. So far I have not played any games.

Don't have many games as I am not a gamer.

Edit; if it matters I do have Crysis2 Demo. Where before I could only use 1600x1024 I can now use 1920x1200. With Fraps even on the cut sceen I saw no less than 24 FPS and in game 29-45 FPS. 1920x1200 before was so bad it was hard to even walk with control...........

The upgrade is not working for me whatsoever. I've tried the "standard" installation, a "clean" installation, and I've even uninstalled the drivers from the control panel and then reinstalling them in safe mode. Nothing. It doesn't crash. Just says that the install "failed". It doesn't install the other two things either.

What am I doing wrong? I've got a p-7805u stock running Vista. GPU is the 9800M GTS.

One thing: When I uninstalled the drivers Windows update said I needed to install an "important update". Turns out it was the old drivers I've been trying to update.

I really needed to update my drivers. Arkham City is burning a hole in my pocket (so to speak) and I'm still on drivers in the high 100s somewhere.

really fresh, weird. Try on installing the old version of the GTS and after that, restart you pc. When you pc is ready, try installing the update with the custom mode, before you click next, there must be a option to clean install the update. Check it and press next. That will work for you, because I had the same problem

I should note, my one SIM, Realflight6 I could only use 4xaa on flatland flying fields. Any amount of exrta objects caused huge stutters. Now I can fly at the bone yard with tons of objects with no issues at all.

If I though enable the view port, essentially making it reder dual sceens, then there is stutter with lots of objects but now I can use the view port on flat fields where I couldn't before.

In all I'd say these drivers for the 260m rock.........................

    Here's what to do.

1 - First of all temporarily disable windows update.

2 - Go to Drivers | laptopvideo2go.com and download the drivers and modified inf file.

3 - Disable the internet temporarily and disable all your firewalls/antivir programs.

4 - Overwrite the original inf in the driver update folder with the custom one and start the setup. Don't bother uninstalling the old drivers first. Choose a clean install and say yes to all the prompts.

Bam, if it went alright it should say installed to all the components. Now restart.

Enjoy a much better driver for your Gaming needs ;)

Andros: Did everything EXACTLY as you said. Same thing. PhysX and HD Audio: Not Installed. Graphic Drivers: Failed.

    Every. God. Damned. Time.

I'm stuck on version 186.32. It sucks.

Jav: I've done that multiple times. In Safe mode and regular mode. Every time it fails.

With my P7805, early on, I had this issue once. It was a driver that installed but one of the files was damaged and would not delete no matter what I did. I ended up having to reinstall the OS and then updated it. If this is your issue no matter what Nvida driver you try to install you are dead in the water.

I've downloaded the new updates multiple times so I don't think that's the problem. Would updating my OS to Win7 be the same as re-installing Vista? I've been meaning to do that for a while now.

    Freshenstein,
I usually do a clean install using driver sweeper ( link: Guru3D - Driver Sweeper (Setup) download from Guru3D.com )

    - Install driver sweeper before uninstalling video drivers
    - Uninstall video drivers in the OS and allow the OS to reboot
    - Hit F8 during reboot and go into safe mode
    - Start driver sweeper and tell it to uninstall the Nvidia and PhysX drivers
    - Driver sweeper does give other options (i.e. ATI drivers, creative sound, MS mouse, Nvidia chipset, and realtek sound) that can be uninstalled too. I don’t choose them because I do not wish to uninstall them
    - Allow driver sweeper to uninstall the drivers you selected
    - Reboot out-of-safe mode and allow a normal startup of your OS
    - Install the new Nvidia (or ATI if switching to a new GPU) and finish install
    - Reboot the OS and see if it installed the new PhysX an GPU drivers

I have used this method for years and it worked for me other folks who have driver issues. I hope this works for you too. :)

That website you linked to didn't have a download link for it but this site: Phyxion.net - Driver Sweeper has a newer version. Is that ok to use?

    **EDIT**

Went ahead and used the newest version and still didn't work.

Every damn time I get this screen at the end.

Graphics needs to install first then the rest comes into play. Now this is for a P7805u, have there been any hardware changes or did you flash the bios etc.? Also Vista 32 or 64?

    Freshenstein,
The version of driver sweeper you are referencing will be fine. I can't speak to the validity of phyxion.net. I would perform a security scan of the file after download to ensure no malware is present.
It is my understanding (from earlier posts) you already use Nvidia drivers with your OS?
(Only a question, driver sweeper will look for all previous installed and still present versions of Nvidia drivers)
However, it is imperative to uninstall the current Nvidia applications and drivers from the OS in a normal startup. I would not recommend uninstalling current applications and drivers from safe mode.

I tried the uninstall/sweep/reinstall in both regular and safe modes. Neither had any success. As for phyxion.net I believe it's the new website for Driver Sweeper.

Strange this method did not work.

Did driver sweeper application analysis result in any old drivers found when you were in safe mode?

I have this latest Driver version... on my Dell D810 with GeForce Go FX1400, my custom Desktop with some crappy 250GTS and on my P-7805u... best driver to date I have tested...

2D, as in all drivers after the 18x series, blows donkey , but thats an nVidia issue that they refuse to fix... (read up on it @ laptopvideo2go, you might have to dig... people stopped caring)

needless to say, compared to the performance of the drivers I was using before (i had 3 different versions, one on each system), if you have to reformat, its TOTALLY WORTH IT... if you game or do 3d intensive stuff... at least in my own personal test...

Hey Freshenstein, did you try deleting your display adapter in device manager first?

Then you have to reboot, cancel windows prompt for driver installation and instal that new one.

I didnt notice he was on Vista... Not normally a first release adopter (you can thank WinME for that)
I stayed on Win98SE for quite a bit before the Jump to XP (even then, it was always the Pro edition, Home edition blew )
Then bought a lappy with Vista on it, very quickly (within the first day) had HORRID flashbacks of WinME... oh the nightmares...
Then, (and only due to the circumstances) Win7 came out for MSDN members, decided to try it out before it went Final, was so impressed that as soon as it hit Final (on msdn, shortly before retail), slapped it on all my systems...

I still greatly miss WinXP sometimes, but I will NEVER miss Vista... NEVER... compared to XP and 7 its just... its WinME all over again, the one OS that MSFT came out and basically apologized for...

My off topic rant overwith, this driver is REALLY snappy, and Win7 is the only OS that DESERVES to be on these lappy's...

    Hey guys,

I did downloaded the installer from Nvidia and downloaded the INF file from laptopvideo2go. But once I paste it in the update folder, nothing happened during installation. It still fail to proceed.

Should I download the installer from laptopvideo2go or is there something that I missed?

With the nvidia download, at least the 260m, it just installed. No inf file required at all..............
