Would it be a waste of money to buy some 800 speed ram to match with my cpu? What about DDR3? Am i able to stick it in this thing?

I believe your chipset only takes DDR2-667 at the max. So if you buy DDR2-800 then it will downclock and DDR3 won't physically fit.
