Heyyyya all. I had a M17x with dual 5870s, the thing was probably the biggest pos laptop I have ever had in my entire life. Everytime I would click on something it would lock up, my 3dmark scores were Subpar to my dektops 9800GX2 video card, so I up and sold it.

Picked me up a Gateway 7811x laptop because I've owned a previous version of this and it was great. Paid 650 for it but came with 20k mp3s and like 1300 music videos plus windows 7 ultimate and office pro sooooo figured it was a good deal.

So far I absolutely LOVE this thing is smokes through every application with no hang ups.

Problem I can see though is the games are on the edge of playable and unplayable, being COD Black Ops and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit it seems about 10 more frames a second and they would be running super smooth.

I picked up a T9900 after doing some reading on that vs the x9100 and wonderinf if I made the right choice? Second question is, is this a hard processor to install, do I need to get some thermal paste or anything for it as well?

Thanks all!!!!Out in Afghan so my posts tend to be when yall sleeping :)

Yes, get some TIM, AS5 is fine or any other good silver paste. You can reuse the PAD over the NB just be cautious with it.

Look into OC'ng the vide card, along with the T9900 you will be fine. Yes you can get more with the x9100 but for gaming it will not make that much o a difference. The GPU will limit you well before the T9900 will.

Enjoy the new to it again machine.................

Not sure how to OC any of that...I'm hoping this gives me about 10 more frames a second in Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, right now it is probably bordering 30fps but any action drops it to about 20 or something sooo it's hard to play :(
