    Hi,

Obviously we all know I am new to gaming and I was wondering what type of controller or joystick is the best for laptop gaming, I have a XBOX 360 etc and am used to that style.

From what I've read you should be able to use that XBOX 360 controller.

you can use the 360 controller, but I strongly recommend keyboard + mouse setup for cod. you will be pwned if you use a controller to play online.

I 2nd getting used to KB/mouse. For FPS games there is no equal. Play for a while you'll get the hang of it. ;)

KB/mouse for online, but if you want to use a controller I recomment the XBOX 360 controller.

    I went from ps2 controller
    to pc keyboard/mouse (counterstrike, starcraft)
to xbox 360 (gears of war*, bioshock, call of duty 4)
and right back to laptop keyboard/mouse (call of duty 4 MAJOR, and any fps xbox/pc games)

*gears of war on xbox 360 controller is the best. on the pc keyboard/mouse combo, it felt awkward cuz of the sprint n cover system. just could get used to the control
*My COD 4 performance is a little bit lower on the pc than xbox, cuz i got used to the controller.

IN CONCLUSION: YOU WILL LOVE KEYBOARD & MOUSE COMBO (10 years of personal experience) Millions will agree!

The use of an analog control is pretty much awful. It's a horrid idea. very bad.

yeah get yourself aquainted to the keyboared and mouse. gaming mice with lots of buttons are nice for games with lots of abilities b/c then you don't have to move your keyboard hand from it's AWSD position as much... IMO
I use the logitech G9 some don't like that it's lazer and expensive but i got it from tigerdirect.com and it was $60 NOT refurb, same price as the G5 at BB. I love it for wow and warhammer but crysis the extra buttons weren't near as handy...

I agree that keyboard/mouse is best for FPS but for those games that need/work better with a game controller, you can get a device that allows wireless Xbox controllers to work with a PC. It cost about $20 and is a little white wireless receiver with an attached USB cable. It works pretty slick; I use it for the Lego Star Wars and Indy games.

Google "Xbox Wireless Gaming Receiver" to find it. Looks like Amazon has it for about $17.
