So, I sent my notebook back to newegg because of the screen blotch. It got there Monday and they approved my RMA today but changed it from replacement to refund. The ridiculous part is, I'm pretty sure they did this because they just jumped the price of the 7801u back up.

When I got my RMA it was still 1199. On it's way back to newegg it was 1399. Now it's up to 1499.

Looks like I'm back to shopping for a new laptop.

    dun dun dun!

I've had so much trouble trying to get a good gateway laptop that I'm pretty much turned off to the whole idea.

I am hoping to be teaching english in japan this summer and wanted to take a gaming laptop with me instead of shipping my whole desktop.

Looks like I'll just settle for a plain old laptop

( before anyone says it, if I'm going to get a 17", 1920x1200 it must be)

Do what I did: Shop on ebay for a refurbished or used model or check local ads for one. I got a 7811-FX for 800 with the 1920 screen. You can't beat a deal like that, at least not for a few months :p

I've been checking craigslist 2x a day for about a month and no luck. Seems to be that way all the time for me lol.

Wow that is a good price. I'm debating whether to sell my 6860 or my 7811, and if I sell the 7811, it'd be for 950 or so, just a little cheaper than I paid for it.
    Great find!
