Is it normal that I can not get any CPU temperature readings for my AMD Athlon64? I keep wondering how the computer knows when to turn the fans on.. Plus, SpeedFan doesn't have any control over the system fans either.. is that normal?
    Thanks.
P.S. I do get HD temps though.

Yes. For that particular Arima machine.

Actually I do get CPU temp readings. Download PC Wizard from the same site CPU-Z is on (google it) and under temps I get my HD and CPU temp.

Interestingly enough, mine doesn't. I am questioning your 4000+ processor. I recall reading that it runs on a lower wattage. So maybe it has more power saving features
    Oh well.
While we're on the subject of temperatures, how hot does your harddrive run, Uscooper? When I was typing my paper while listening to music (bad habit, I know, but I think I did A work right there ;)), I saw my harddrive temp reach 60C. Now it's down to 55C, which is still pretty hot to my knowledge.

It uses a whole different chipset. The gateway 74xx and eMachines m68xx don't have an accessible temp sensor.
