hello, a friend of mine gave me his gateway p-7805u because he flashed the graphic cards bios to an overclocked one and the graphics card has been buggy ever since, if anyone could link me or upload the original bios so i can reflash it i would greatly appreciate it.

cant be done, the BIOS is shadowed, everything is locked down so tight in these machines. There is no way you could even flash it in the first place. I had this problem with my desktop last week, it had crazy artifacts for a while and then i had to keep restarting until i got the "boot to last good know configuration" option while booting.

I tried to flash the BIOS from an 8800m GTS to an 8800MGTX back when I had my 6860FX, same machines, different names.

Is it buggy at start up or just when windows is at the desktop?

Why in the world would have have flash the VBIOS just to OC the card, instead of just use nvidia tool

Unfortunately i dont have a 9800 BIOS to give you, but you might can convince someone with a 7805/7801/7808 to dump their VBIOS into a file for you. Though honestly not many people are willing to mess with their VBIOS (especially on a laptop with a soldered on GPU)

The problem is its not an MXM card, so there is no separate BIOS in which you can mess around with.

Possibly flashing the Gateway system BIOS will solve your issues?

HERE is the link for the BIOS, just re-flash it and it should effect the VBIOS as well

    NARSNAIL!!!!
    lol been a while mate.

Ok so it was it was due to the MXM connection that we couldnt flash to the 8800GTX? I had always thought it was because we couldnt find a non-MXM 8800GTX.

Puts a new spin on the situation now that i realized ive been thinking about it backwards.

Haha yea it has been a long time since ive been here :)

From what I remember I couldnt even touch the vBIOS cause it claimed it was shadowed every time I tried to flash it, which is the stupid Phoenix BIOS' doing.

I think re-flashing the Gateway system BIOS will fix the problems though, I recall seeing the VGA adapter section when I had the Phoenix BIOS editor and was looking through the BIOS.

im afraid not, that should be a manufacturer defect or the like, and will be replaced for free, as long as they feel you have not tampered with it physically or anything.

Im kind of dipping into the BIOS flashing but Ive got a question. If their isnt a separate BIOS for the GPU then why dose GPUZ let me dump the Bios?

Im pretty sure you cannot, plus the clock speed is lower than that of the 9800M GTS so I would think it would only hurt your performance. The 260 is better because it physically has twice as many procs but lower clock speed.
