K guys it's me ROT112 with another problem for you guys. I just started getting the nVidia Driver has Stopped responding error again.Mostly when playing Section 8 Open Beta.

I don't know if this is a problem with the game, driver or my hardware. But my GPU only gets up to 72C MAX when under load, So i know its probably not over heating issues.

I just installed Windows 7 and have started to get this issue, though i did experience it a while ago with Vista, and cleaning out my vents fixed the problem. Though i did that now and that has not fixed the problem.

So i am thinking about buying a Cryo LX Cooler now to decrease the temperatures as much as possible to see if that would fix the problem. If the 10C decrease is real then i will get like 65C under load now.

Or should i buy a X7800 CPU instead and reformat my system once Windows 7 is released and maybe the RTM won't give me this problem.

Someone please help me out on what i should do.

What video Driver are you using... if its 186.03 then its probably the drivers fault (its crashed out on a number of people)

Win7 shouldnt be the problem unless the game is just specifically designed not to work with it.

Why on earth would you trade a perfectly good t9300 for an x7800?

A cooler is nice because it keeps your system cooler... but 72 degrees is pretty much the same as 62 degrees (in so much that neither temp is even close to being dangerous or having adverse reactions on the hardware)

Well i wanted to OC it. But hell now i can't do much OCing at all since i have this damn problem. But yea im using 190.56. I did a clean install into it. But kamin you got a 6860 too. What drivers r u using? Maybe if i use those i will stop getting this VERY ANNOYING problem.

Please i really hate this thing. This is the worst ERROR ever.

P.S. i am not OCing anymore.

meh, unless you're going to get an x9000 i wouldnt worry with OCing the CPU. THe more efficent process and the larger cache of the t9300 make it neck and neck equal with the x7800. Only when brute force clock speeds matter does the x7800 outshine the t9300.

Yeah i still have the 6860... i'm actually using the 186.03 drivers. And while i've had one random driver crash, besides that incident its been stellar. (its my 11146 3dmark driver)

But honestly it sounds like your game and the driver arent speaking very well and causing conflict (epspecially with it being a beta... i'd report it as a bug and see what they say). Do you get these crashes anyother time?

Actually Kamin i have not tested any other game besides Section 8 on Windows 7. I will download Batman Arkham Asylum Demo and run that game for a while at the highest settings possible with PySx. And then i will probably play some Crysis Warhead and Call of Duty 4 one after another and see if i get the crash. If i don't then yeah it probably is just Section 8 and should be fixed on release.

186.03 gave me crashes before so that's a definite no go. But i remember downloading 190.56 on Vista stopped the crashes except on Section 8. But at that time i started playing Section 8 after a long Hiatus from gaming and the forums all in all. But now I am back and hopefully the problem is just Section 8 Open Beta and will be fixed with the final release because right no I am loving this game. And i am getting back into the PC Gaming world so i need my FX to be as ready as it can be for all the new games coming out.

Thanks for all the help Batman XD. I will test out other games
for an hour or so and get back to this thread with the results. Just to confirm it's not a W7 problem. Thank YOU!

K Kamin no LUCK man. I started up CoD4 All Ghillied Up at max settings. And the game was running smoother than ever. And my temps only went up to about 60C and i got the error.

Im using 190.56 Win7 RC x64. Im really becoming desperate here and i am starting to abhor my laptop. Do you have any suggestions as to what i may do. I really need this problem to be solved as all i want to do is game on my computer.

This only happens on the most recent games i have. It does not happen in ROSE online which is a 5 year old game. Though my computer does get just as hot if not hotter when playing that game and it never crashes after hours of gameplay.

What can this problem be. Its not Temperature thats for certain, it might be the driver i have. Tho i would like to know if it might be my hardware. And if there is a way to check that it is not just my graphic card that is about to crap out on me. As i only have had my laptop for 1 year.

PLEASE som1 help me, if you have had this problem b4 how did u fix it.

    HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you tried 186.03? It's the only driver that's never given me that error, even after playing Crysis. I switched to 190.38 because it plays better with my TV and performs slightly better, but I have gotten the same problem you're getting once in a while.

    Save often :).

If anyone has a solution to this problem please help me out . I am desperate for a FIX.

I've never gotten that problem with any driver on my 6860. Right now i am using the 186.03 driver and have been fine, even in the Section 8 beta.

Nice Noodles thanks for reminding me how dreadful this error is lol. I envy you for being able to play Section 8 beta with no problems. But right now i am going to get the 186.03 drivers again and will do a clean install and use the Have Disk Method this time. And cross my fingers.

It should be a driver issue, i cant really remember anyone ever having a problem with the 68xx GPU's crapping out. So far the 6831 and 6860 have been gateways best releases ever.

Can you think of anything else you have recently done on your machine before you started to get the crashes?

Do you have a longer boot time than normal?

Boot time is alot faster now actually, i really cannot think of anything other than installing W7. I myself do not think that it is a GPU problem either. That is actually a relief to be honest.

I just installed 186.03 with the Have Disk Method and i am going to play through the CoD4 missions right now. And if i can do an ENTIRE mission without a crash then i will get back to you. And confirm that this problem has most likey been fixed.

But i really don't remember ever doing anything drastic to my system. It must be driver issue. I will keep u updated as soon as im done doing more test runs and driver changes.

And there is this other thing but i doubt thats the problem. I switched the slot where the Wirless Intel Card was seated. I put it in the 2nd bay not the 1st because the first drive was having some problems.

K i tried out 186.03 and CoD4 crashed again. Now i will try going further back to 185.85 DOX. Anyone else that has a 8800m GTS what drivers do you use so that i can try em out. I really need this problem fixed. It will probably all be well once i get W7 RTM but i need it fixed now.

    well... hrm

I'm using 186.03 right now, but i havent played any games on it (not counting plants vs zombies)

The most stable driver i found was DOX 182.63 (i believe but i'm away at work so i cant check) It played everything so well i ended up down clock my vid card, becuase i wasnt even needing its full power to play most of the games i ran.

I cant believe Win7 is causing this much trouble for you. I've been running it flawlessly for months now. Sorry its being a pain to you though. If you cant figure it out you might have to revert to Vista until its released.

(also what version of Win7 are you using)

I am using Build 7100 Evaluation Copy. This problem is very very annoying. I just installed DOX 185.85 and that gave me the crash as well. I really do not know what to do anymore. Are there any other suggestions for drivers out there. Games on W7 run SOOOO Much smoother on W7 but this problem is still keeping me from enjoying my "gaming laptop" to its fullest.

I have had a similar problem to what you have, the only driver I ever found to not crash was Dox 182.05.

Did you recently put anything on your eSATA port?

I recently added a Western Digital Mybook external drive on eSATA, and started having a similar Windows error saying my display driver stopped responding. It happens consistently everytime the WD drive refreshes (the drive front panel light blinks for a few seconds, my GW 7801-u display freezes, and then all is well again after the drive stops refreshing).

Not sure what the fix would be, but at least I know what the cause is.

    Hope this helps someone...

Ok guys looks like it was'nt nVlddmkm driver not responding it was. Windows Kernel Mode Driver *driver version* error i was receiving. I looked it up and it seems to be a W7 x64 problem. I might try the 32bit version of the windows and see how that works.

And now it seems that after i get the error in a game. After i close the game in task manager my desktop starts to bug out and i can't even finish typing a sentence without it flickering and freezing.

OK i went back to Vista x64 and my problem has been successfully fixed. THANK GOD!!!!

Tho i will Buy W7 x64 RTM when it is released in October. As i loved the speed it had in games. Too bad it had that problem. Hopefully the final build runs much better.

Sorry to hear it wouldnt resolve... i wonder if the ISO you burned was somehow messed up. I'm running 7100RC as well and i've never had that issue (had a random BSOD in build 7000 though)

Just an idle thought did you burn the ISO on slowest speed to bypass (most) chances of data skipping?

On well i wish you luck with 7600 and hope it works for you. Also did you report the bug to Microsoft to see if they had a fix, or knew about the problem?

    Keep us posted

Installed Windows 7 x64 Ultimate RTM Build 7600. And the problem has been alieved and i no longer get the error in CoD4 after playing it for 1 hour.

Now i will install Section 8 Open Beta and play 4 or 5 missions and see how that works out. Will keep u posted. :)
