Recently upgraded my p7805u to accomodate blu-ray playback. Got everything installed and fired up PowerDVD 9 Ultra. It gets to the "loading blu-ray disc" but then states that the drivers for the 9800m GTS are incompatible with the software. Also tried Arcsoft Total Theatre; same result.
- Blu-ray drive: HL-CT10N f/w WR06
- Vista 64bit SP2
- 190.15 drivers (modded .inf from laptopvideo2go.com)
- AnyDVD HD not installed.
already tried the following drivers:-
- 190.40; doesnt work
- 190.38; doesnt work
I dont really want to revert to 186.03 because it causes severe artifacting in DoW2. The 9800m GTS is OCed @ 700/929/1800. Powermizer off. High performance power plan.
What drivers is everyone else using?
advice please? thanks.

for digital 1080p/blueray I use the windows media player and CoreAVC.......
-
ugh
I forked out a hefty sum for PowerDVD 9 so i'd like to get that working as my 1st choice.
Will try out CoreAVC as a backup option though. -
186.03 works fine on win 7

The WHQL drivers which is 186.03 works fine (check LV2G, might have newer drivers from your notebook manufacturer, as long as they are WHQL they should be fine). By using modded drivers you are loosing WHQL and thus loosing HDCP as a consequence (rule of blu-ray; BD drive, HDCP video card, HDCP monitor and WHQL graphics drivers). For some reason the manufactures don't trust computer users (go figure) thus make us jump through hoops to get things to work, like certified this and certified that.

yeah, found that out much to my annoyance. Opted to go with Dox's 185.85 drivers. Works good now.
thanks all.
EDIT: why are black bars still present during blu-ray playback despite the 1920x1200 native screen res?! eg. Hancock movie. Open Season 2 plays fine @ full screen; no black bars. Using a Samsung LTN170WU-L02. -
Because 1080p is 1920x1080, not 1900x1200. So your player will size it to fit your screen.

Even with 1080p there are still black bars, stupid cinematic widescreen.

^ yep. Even my nice shiney 1080 TV will black bar a 1080 blue ray disc... its stupid really

you could always get the phillips 21:9 tv!
-
Not worth it, most TV show and IMAX (Dark Knight being a good example) are in 16:9.
Nvidia drivers apparently not compatible with ANY blu-ray playback software...HELP?
