OCZ Whitebook worth the upgrade compared to 7811FX?

Hi all, I'm sure you know who I am.. I've been around here for a hot minute.. Well, I decided that it was time to invest in a new gaming/benchmark rig. The OCZ Whitebook, A.K.A. Flextronics/Arima Force Extreme 840 is my next notebook of choice. Lots of aliases, eh? Rebranders can be creative

I spent some time debating on whether or not it would be a wise move.. if the cost vs. value factor was there.. And really, I love my 7811FX. But, I am just ready for something different. Well, after browsing several different vendors I decided to go with XoticPC . They have a bullet proof reputation, and unsurpassed customer service. I did take a look at RKC Notebooks who also is very reputeable... and also at KillerNotebooks who has a reputation for high performance..

Before I made my decision, I decided to do some research regarding performance of the notebook itself. Turns out, KillerNotebooks is the only source for overclocking and benchmarking results right now. And I'm sure you all know how I feel about those! Well, it seems their setup performed extremely well.. breaking the 14k barrier, actually reaching 14.6k with an overclocked x9100!( 15.1k in "lab conditions") I should be getting excited right here, yes? No.. I then saw a benchmark of a single hd3870 coming in the low 9ks.. and was mentally comparing to the 7811FX. So, I decided I'd challenge the beast, and offer my stock clocks, x9100 without OC hitting 9600 to see if they had any response.. Mind you, this is a forum I'm posting on..and just like here at the Gateway home, everyone is welcome. I was immediately lambasted. The lambasting was removed..all 9 pages of it. Johnksss, another reputable long-time member of these parts, was taking a lot of heat as well..for something he didnt even say. johnksss is a good friend, and stood up for myself, the gateway, and NBR.. Well, I'm all about some good ribbing..ya know? And until I realized that KillerNotebooks himself, who is evidentally pretty high up in this company, decided to degrade 2 potential customers. Here's the screen shots of his comments:

Now, there was never any harsh words towards him or his company.. and at this point, I am getting frustrated, because its not a fair way to treat potential customers. Obviously, I'm not planning to spend money with someone of this demeanor.. So I let him know that:

Well, wouldn't ya know..it's ok to attack potential customers. One's who are just defending themselves against your groupies, and then defending from you YOURSELF.. but when one speaks up in a professional manor, you slam a fist down and ban them from returning..that way you don't have to explain why it is that you're a not providing customer service that is up to par.. but instead, you're providing semi-fast machines, while the company obviously lacks in true customer service.
This hurt my feelings..


The long story short, I don't feel this is proper conduct if you consider yourself reputable as a business. And even as a person, there is no reason to treat strangers this way..

I'd like to thank XoticPC for providing excellent customer assistance to this point..and I even got a message this afternoon from Justin to let me know that everything is being processed, and expedited. RKC, I'm sure your service is equal, and maybe next time we can enjoy the pleasure of doing business. Personally, I do not recommend KillerNotebooks based on my experiences thus far.

Oh, and on a side note..since I obviously intimidated them with my 7811FX scores.. just wait till XoticPC's Whitebook is in my hands!
Benchies will be provided showing a direct comparison ASAP! Just waiting on the new rig!

 

Awww poor E =( Well, it's a good laptop choice you got there, I wouldn't want to deal with KNB either. I can't wait to see you benchmark that beast

Nope.. tailored it to fit my gateway threads needs. Not the same flame..even though it's more of a thank you, to XoticPC.

EDIT: Actually, it's not a "flame" at all.. Im simply pointing out the different business practices..and which ones produce clients, and which ones do not. Obviously, the post will be self explanitory. If anyone was flaming, it was not myself. I simply posted screen shots of a companies feeling towards prospects.

I'd like to welcome the KN groupies to the room.. Hi guys. Well, to field your quick responses.. I am neutral. Or, was neutral. I don't know anything about bad blood. I don't know anything about flaming. And I sure didn't run from anyone, or anything. However, your ring leader over there at KN banned me from the forum for posting a response to his personal degradation of me. It's rather difficult to defend yourself when you are removed from the scene. I say Mark is an awesome guy, who answers your questions like a normal guy, not an automated bot like everyone else.

 

Than wouldn't a more appropriate thread name be something like, "I don't like killernotebooks" or "Heres what killernotebooks did to me", I'm sure you could think of lots others, I came to this thread because I was interested in the comparison between the OCZ whitebook, and the Gateway 7811FX, but instead all I saw was the problems you were having with some company.

Now you try to insult me (killernotebook groupie) because I suggest that you keep NBR on track, and not turn it into another flame forum, theres flame forums all over the internet, but this forum has been very productive and helpful to alot of people, so all I'm asking is that we keep it this way.

You should keep you money and spend it on a shrink.

lol.. y'all are ridiculous. what do you care, if I expose someone for being a bad business experience for myself? I was there to research the OCZ initially..and was then lambasted. Well, the next day I decided to buy it. And there are several people in this forum alone that are interested in it. I don't want to see them have to deal with people like that.. because I care for them. It's nothing personal with KN.. hell, I don't care about KN..but I know I dont like them based on recent experiences. But, I'd rather see people in this forum, that I do care about..be happy with their experience in the event they decide to purchase a whitebook. They'd likely lambast me too, if I recommended KN to them.

 

And do you really want to compare it to the Gateway? Its obvious you arent going to buy the Gateway and your just cross posting to get more attention from guys who dont hang out in the OCZ forum.

to be honest i really don't care. i felt robbed expecting to see something more informative about the ocz whitebook. instead i got lambasted with quotes aaaand pictures of killernotebooks current posts and 2 companies business practices.

 

The only logic here, is the lack thereof displayed by you and all of these others attempting to flame ME for starting a thread in MY Gateway home. See Sig, thank you. If there is any flaming, it's not by me. I have done nothing more than post a review of my experience..and I was intending on making comparisons between the 2 rigs..before being rudely interupted. If you browse through my Gateway families other threads you'll notice the OCZ has been discussed for quite some time. Why not have an official thread for it? Hmm..makes sense, does it not? so at what point in time did you tell us why the ocz is worthwhile/better than 7811? the gist of what i got is it would be better to do business with xoticpc than killernotebooks.

oh since i was still trying to find some relevant info on the comparison of the 2 notebooks mentioned and i came across mention of the double topic in the other thread. you admit comparing the 2 companies in the duplicate thread. so that would mean if this topic is dupliclate you're not comparing the aforementioned notbebooks.

 

Where's the mods when you need them....this is getting too off topic. The topic title will be addressed once E gets his Whitebook and post the specs and tests (hopefully) in this thread. The first post was a summary of why he bought the Whitebook instead of a KN. Leave it at that and call it a night (or day) cause I'm sure you guys have a lot better things to do than stalking a forum to bash people's posts...

think about it: e-wrecked compared the two hardware if it's a worthwile upgrade... for more than twice the price the ocz whitebook has +50% more performance.

$1250 = 10,000 3dmarks (100% performance)
$3000 = 15,000 3dmarks (150% performance)

well, not to be biased or anything but i think i'd rather buy two fx's and enjoy 10,000 marks each. (i hate sharing) well that's me. but that's way off the point.

those newbies here that just joined to flame e-wrecked, know your place. forums are meant for people to talk, and if i got (unfairly) forcibly silenced in one, you can sure depend on it that i'd be talking in another.
