Ok here is an attempt to keep a running list of the bugs / problems / fixes / work-a-rounds / etc for the various issues that owners of the Gateway 7811 FX are dealing with.
No Raid:
If you are working on a system that has never been updated at all you may notice that you don’t have the ability to set up a RAID Array (RAID 1 or RAID 0) like all of the other FX owners. For this there is a very simple fix… just update your BIOS.

NOTE
There does seem to be a slight problem when updating to the newer RAID supported BIOS and that is the 98deg Throttling. While the original BIOS suffered from this as well some of the older BIOS revisions suffered A LOT more from this situation. The best thing to do would be to try out a few different ones to see what works the best for you. .12 seems stable for most everyone (YMMV)
My 7811 doenst come with XP and I’m still using it
Well that’s because it’s a very old OS and less and less hardware manufacturers care to make the drivers needed to make their new tech work with a 2001 era OS.
BUT no fear due to the dedicated efforts of our forum members you now can have XP still. Keep in mind everything usually will not work so this is not a perfect solution, but it should get you up and running pretty easily. Remember if you find a fix for any of these problems still outstanding please post them in the threads so everyone can benefit from your work (that is why we’re here after all)

My 7811 Throttles and ruins my gaming experience
That is due to a (for lack of a better word) screw up from Gateway. For some reason the TSZ0 of the 78xx models bugs out and will cause major CPU throttles and will effectively ruin your gaming or lock up your computer. Moral Hazard has devised a fix for this that even a mad scientist would be proud of.

There appears to be another lock up reason and that is the ethernet port causing some kind of internal driver issue and buggering up all of the inner workings. You can try to uninstall the driver and see if that will help, as most people don’t use ethernet port that is a nice fix if it work, for those that do use the port I don’t believe a fix for that particular issue has appeared yet… if anyone knows of one please feel free to mention it.
Other Issues
Can I use a Quad core CPU…? NO, no you cannot. No matter how many times you ask and how many BIOS updated that Gateway releases the 7811 will never run a quad core CPU. Your best CPU upgrades are the
P9700 / T9600 / T9800 / T9900 / X9100
All of these work great and will give you a nice performance boost.
Can I use 8GB of RAM…? Yes, yes you can. It has been confirmed by multiple sources that 8GB is recognizable and works fine even though our specs say 4GB max.
If you have any other issues please let me know and I’ll go ahead and try to find all of the answers for you.

Not really tired of them, but someone made a request that a more centralized thread be created to help 7811 owners so i figured it would give me something to do (i've been working 21 hours straight at this point and still have another 15 to go before i can sleep)
