I was debating with my friend that has a ASUS G1S-A1 which has a Nvidia 8600m GT w/ddr3 256mb he says his is more powerful and better suited for gaming. I in the other hand have a ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 2600 w/ddr3 512mb which i think Is a better GPU suited for gaming who can u guys say is right here? Anyone with experience with these GPU's can give me an accurate reading?
THANKS IN ADVANCE![]()

his ranks 2 spots higher than yours... (#69 vs #71)
HOWEVER, those benchmarks are for max ability on those gpu's. The 8600GT has max ddr3 512mb, but his is 256.... so I think yours might be better, since 256 vs 512mb is a very big difference.
so the answer: if he had the best version of the 8600GT, his would be better. but the 8600GT that he has is worse than your radeon, but not by much...
that's not a factual answer, but an educated assumption by me -

Perhaps these links may be of interest to you? It seems that the HD 2600 is comparable to the 8600M GS. Also, the HD 2600 has a far smaller fabrication process, so it will run much cooler and consume less power for similar performance. In other words, it's more efficient. -
Now i just feel bad!!!! THX GUYS>JK GUYS OH WELL THATS THE WAY THE COOKIE CRUMBLES. U guys think i can at least play mirror edge or far cry 2 at least so i dont feel that bad. ANY FEEDBACK WILL BE NICE.THX GUYS.

Does it matter? Even if his gpu is faster, its still a G1S. That thing overheats so bad that it downclocks anyway.

If you have decent cooling you can seriously overclock your HD2600. To HD2600 XT speeds. Just watch the temp. I could get HD2600 XT speeds around 92-95C. In winter. So if you're willing to put up with the heat you can beat his 8600GT. Not sure how much room he has for overclocking but if he does have good cooling in that laptop he can overclock his 8600GT also but there is no need to tell him that

The amount of vram probably isn't very relavant in the two gpus. they are both only 128bit bus...
Ok I was just debating?
