Screw that... There is no way I am paying that after everyone else got it for 1199. Their prices are way to random.

Where else should I look? I am going to buy once my tax return comes in. Should a few weeks from now.

Well, it appears as if they're still slapping the 1920 screens into the 7805 models. Another member posted that he got two with the 1920 screen - both had the same batch number and it was *way* up there (highest I've seen reported).

Start hitting BB stores in your area and use the serial number trick mentioned in a few other threads (LXW430XO138xxxxxx is the 1920 unit) is about all I can suggest.

I know a guy that paid $1050 tax free for a 7805u with a 1900x1200, so basically the exact same thing I sent NewEgg $1199 for....some people paid $950 around xmas time....oh well

Well as you don't have your money yet, you have time for:

    1. Newegg to reduce the price again

    2. Find a 7805U with a 1920 screen at best buy.

    3. Gateway to release a newer better model

    4. You die and it doesn't matter any more

    :D

I can preorder the 7807 for the same price as the 7801 now. Any idea when it would come in?

Well, right now, for the exact same $1399, with the 7807u you'd get the faster P8600 rather than the P8400.

It would seem like a no-brainer when the price is identical, but it would help to know when the 7807u's will be released.

It would be a no-brainer except for the fact that the OP expressed an interest in the WUXGA screen and it looks like the 7807 is spec'd with a 1440.

    Guess it's a "brainer", then!

    More like a brain-buster! ;)

7801/7805: Totally identical machines *provided* the (BB-only) 7805 just happens to have a WUXGA screen. Different prices, regardless - currently $1149 for the 7805 from BB and currently $1399 from Newegg but anywhere from $1199 - $1599, depending upon the time of day.

7807: Same as the 7801 except with a P8600 processor and 1440 screen - exactly the same as the 7805 except with a P8600 processor *unless* the 7805 just happens to have a WUXGA screen. $1399 pre-order (who knows when it will be released).

7808: Same as the 7807 except with a Q9000 processor, Bluetooth, and a 500GB HDD (but 5400 RPM). $1799 pre-order price (see 7807 for release date).

    Geez!

Well...now the 7801 is no longer available...so I am looking at doing some hunting at Best Buy locations throughout Houston. Anyone have any luck finding the WUXGA in town anywhere? If I cant find one I guess I'll wait and see what the 7807 ends up with screen wise. If I cant get what I want from gateway I guess I will have to step to a custom built system from Clevo or ugh (the M17) etc.

    People post your locations . . . . . ..

    You're in Houston . . . .

Best buy across from Bay Brook mall has a 7805u with 1920x1200 screen. I know because I returned it there. Nothing wrong with it, I just do not like the 1920 screen, went with a 1440 instead.

Bust buy I-45 and Bayarea bvld. Clearlake area

    Get going
