I've been keeping a close eye on the Gateway FX lineup for the last few months as I was looking to purchase the P-6860FX as a school laptop/desktop replacement. After considering the possibilities of not being able to afford that particular model I then noticed the M-6864FX as a fallback plan. After discovering both of these laptops have been discontinued I'm getting worried about what I may be ending up with.

I wont be getting my school money until mid-late October and I'm hoping to get something I can use for school and still enjoy some games on. Roughly in the $800 - $1250 range. I did notice some cheaper Gateway machines they still have available but with the x1300 GPU's.... after doing some research I dont think they'll quite be able to handle the games I plan to play. Mostly being an upcoming MMO using the Unreal 3 Engine, Team Fortress 2 and Call of Duty 4.

Do you think they'll have new models of these now discontinued machines within the next 3 weeks? Anything affordable within the price range that can run the games I plan to play?

    I know of the 7811FX... I just need fallback options in-case I cant afford a $1250 machine.

Hey pal,I just stumbled on to your post and coincidentally I am selling a P-6860FX on ebay that you are looking to buy for way cheaper than what you pay for in say Best Buy.Maybe it's fate haha.It is a reburbished machine but I assure you it is in excellent condition.Perfect screen,no dead pixels or anything.Barely any signs of usage. This thing can basicly play any game you throw at it as I'm sure you know. Please check it out, just goto ebay and search item # 200258441899
