I'm looking for a new laptop and I saw a GW:MX3560 at Best Buy today, and really liked the look of it.
I've looked through the forums and can't find any information on this model, so can anyone give me an opinion.
    It would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

The price is $899. These are the specs I got off the Best Buy website--I guess there's nothing on the forum because it's no good. Thanks for replying I new at this

I'm not sure about the upgrade. I won't use it for games, just school, emails, the net and dig photos. But is sounds like I should give it a miss?
To be quite honest I was going on the fact that it had 80 GB of hard drive, 512 MB (I thought these were average with some space) and I really liked the weight 5.2lbs and 14" WXGA wide view screen. Are there other Gateways this size that are a better buy?

I know I'm being too tactile, but I like to be able to see what I'm going to buy. My choices through reseach have being the Fijitsu s series or maybe a thinkpad--some great deals right now but only on the chunky models I guess.

ditto. seems pretty good so far... i'm in Canada so the price of it wasn't as cheap as the US prices (as US and CA currency is ALMOST on par but for my mx3558, it was $999... whereas it's just $899 for a better model for you guys)

Winnipeg here btvsrocks. Future Shop $999 for yours too? I'm definitely going to be adding memory. 512 just not cutting it for multitasking. Not much of a gamer so I can make do with the intel video.

Yep! Boxing Day eh? It's now $1099 at FS.ca so I guess it wasn't as great of a "boxing day deal" as I had thought.

I've been looking into getting maybe a 1gb (or even 512 could be good enough) memory upgrade for it, been researching around for the exact type I need. Do you know where you're thinking of buying your memory upgrade? Maybe newegg.com will have a relatively cheap price on it and perhaps I'll use shopthestates.com to get it here... or just buy locally...

I find the 4200 rpm harddrive a bit slow, especially for booting up. Maybe it's just due to Norton Internet Security. Perhaps down the road I might upgrade to a 5400 rpm HD.

Norton definitely slows things down. I've done a lot of surfing for tweaks and optimizing and going to try a few things today to improve performance although from what i've seen so far I have no complaints. I just like to tweak and enhance to get the most out of it that I can. I'll probably add 512 GB sometime soon and perhaps a faster HD eventually. I've looked at FS and BB so far for memory.

I, and probably many other people, suggest Avast Antivirus. I have no slowdowns whatsoever. You might need to reformat to get rid of Norton though.

I already got a fairly recommended antivirus program (ESET NOD32) but I've been using Norton Internet Security for awhile until I've settled on a good internet security suite/firewall program. Maybe I'll just get Zone Alarm again.

And man, I hope I don't have to completely reformat to get rid of Norton...

Oh as for buying RAM at BB & FS, I have a feeling it'd probably be more pricey there. At another Canadian deals website I visit (redflagdeals), people seem to buy their RAM from not so large/chain stores. Perhaps better prices... (I don't know personally as I've never looked into RAM before)
