I have a Gateway P 6860fx Gaming Laptop. I had read that most ppl play crysis on 1024x768 on high and hit 27 fps. Though when i Play on native res. with everything on high i get 25 fps. And with the CCC Pak lvl 3 (modded by me to make the textures ultra high) i get 31 fps. This is with the stock cpu 1.8ghz. Did i get like a super one that was made clocked higher. What do you guys think. Oh and i can Run Crysis Warhead with LVL 4 CCC pak at 35-40 fps. Is this weird for the specs i have. Did i get lucky or is this normal.
Im using the 175.63
Nvidia 8800m GTS
Intel 1.8ghz Processor
running 1440x900

You should play the lottery
-
doesn't count if you're runnin dx9 ;P
-
Run 3dmark. That will answer all your questions. You should get anything from 7000-7400. More if your 8800mgts is "over powered".

so im guessing this isnt as big a deal as i thought. just i remember someone making a review for the 8800m gts and getting the exact same fps as i was on 1024x768 that i get on native. I just thought maybe it was the drivers. Any ways thanks for responding guys. Oh and what is the best available driver for the Nvidia 8800m gts right now. THats give the highest performance boost.
Oh and WysockiSauce how does Crysis Run on LVL4 CCC pak with the T9300. Can you please run the config and tell me how may fps you get. Level 3 Will be fine. I just want to see how much of an increase i will get. Im getting the Intel T8300 2morro for my B-day and i want to know if its worth if for Crysis. -
the 178.13 are the best fore sure. gave me a 5fps boost in warhead

Thank you im going to get the driver right now and install them using my method. And i get 25 fps on high averaged, after the benchmark goes through the second and third time, first run never scores to high, so make it loop 3. Thanks guys. Im going to install the drivers and get back to you on how it went. THANKS
P.S. Narsnail can you tell me how you run Crysis with the level 3 and 4 ccc pack. I want to see how much of a fps boost it will be compared to how my 1.8 ghz intel runs it. On Native Res please =-). -
rot112, just FYI, Crysis is VERY graphics-limited, so sticking a better CPU in isn't going to do much. I can tell you from my experience of going from a 1.67 Ghz T5450 to a 2.5 Ghz T9300, did not a whole lot for me in gaming. When I turned Crysis on, although I didn't do a direct comparison between the two, I found that I don't think I really gained any FPS, although it felt a bit smoother, like maybe the minimum FPS got a bit of an increase, but honestly if it did, it wasn't much, maybe 1 or 2 FPS.
You're not going to see a huge difference, at least in gaming, unless it's something like Supreme Commander. But hey, if you are running Crysis @1440x900 with no problems, then don't let anyone tell you you arent
And BTW, I run Warhead at all Gamer settings @1440x900, almost finished it, so it IS playable. A few slowdowns here and there, I think I did turn Shaders or maybe shadows down to the medium setting, whichever that is when it chugged in a few places, but other than that all Gamer settings. -
Thanks for the info citizen. Though i do remember narsnail getting higher fps in Crysis when he got his X7800 so maybe a 3 fps increase would be a good estimate as to how much more fps i would be getting.
I installed the 178.13 driver and i did not see any diffence in any of my games.
Citizen86 i HIGHLY reccomend yo install Triple CCC pack LVL 4 for Crysis Warhead (just dont install the TOD because it wont work because of the level.PAK file). It looks A bit better than Enthusiast and Runs at 40 fps on the 8800m GTS.
I will be getting my processor 2 morro and im thinking about just buying a 2.2 processor and overclocking to 2.4, would that be a good idea or would i be getting overheating problems. If you guys dont reccomend to get a proccessor then i guess buying a cooler would be fine with me. Please leave your suggestions here. Im confused as to what to buy.
-A Laptop Cooler
-or spend 175 on a t9300 ( if i can confirm that its really worth it)
thanks for the help. -

I will be ordering my t9300 sometime this week. I can get it for about 250-270
How much did yo guys get your t9300's for. I dont want to be spending more than i should.
I will post my own review up. With Crysis And Bioshock. Not gonna be as good as narsnail but it'll give more ppl an idea of how much of an increase a t9300 will give to their performance particularly in crysis.
Narsnail can you play crysis at all high 1440 900 with CCC 2.21 lvl 3 or 4 at a playable frame rate. when you have the time can you tell me how many fps you get running the ccc 2.21 config with your proccessor.
Thanks you guys for answering to this post i will post my review up as soon as i get my processor. -
I got my T9300 for I believe $316 from Newegg (It's actually gone up in price?!? $330 now). So $250 is a pretty good price I think.
