All right, so a few days ago, my P-7915U FX Laptop started overheating frequently (directing me towards a BSOD), after 30-60 minutes of gaming (which is what I use it for). My laptop is one year-old.

I looked around online to find some solutions. I cleaned both heatsinks and it's not overheating anymore, but I was wondering about some other solutions. I ordered a fan today.

The solution I'm wondering about is undervolting. Would it be beneficial to undervolt my laptop? I downloaded HWMonitor and found that under maximum load, the temperature of core #0 and core #1 are 70 and 69 celsius, respectively. Would undervolting effect the performance and what would it do to gaming?

    Thanks in advance.

Is the GPU or is the CPU overheating? Undervolting will help the CPU but the GPU voltage is fixed.

If you are now running at normal ranges blow out the HS's once per month or better. This is part of normal maintenance of the system. If it is still running hot and the fans are running normal speeds then it is time for a repaste of the system.

You can always help a bit by getting a cooler such as the NC2000............

Undervolting your CPU wouldn't hurt even if it is the GPU that's overheating. I found that both the CPU and especially the GPU raise the internal temperature of the laptop and cause each other and the hard drive to get hotter.
