Hello, Ive been using the P 7811 for gaming and decided to monitor the tempatures with HWMonitor, it seems that with stock drivers updated except bios, that the crysis demos got all the way to 95 C on my computer, Note I have the 2887 model and i didnt prop it up. What should I do and is this even a problem?

tornbacchus GO leafs.. Wait, Nevermid
so your gpu card gets up to 95 degrees? that is pretty hot, i dont know if its ok but i have a 9700M GTS in my toshiba at it doesnt go over 65 degrees, and when it hits that, thats pretty hot.
with that temp, id be scared about the long term effects of it. im happy i didnt go with the 7811 myself, mosly not liking the heat on it. -
Im trying to find out if I should exchange it now? I dont want to get too attached if the tempatures are way to high, Also during Crysis the HD temp got up to 60 degrees. Remeber these are stock GPU drivers and the laptop is not propped with 2887. Gonna run 3dmark06, but any P 7881 owners have suggestions? Should I return? I bought at bestbuy
-
Yes, try to return it. I am not sure who said it, but they got a newer model that doesnt have this problem. i wish i could remember the thread, but search for it in gateway. and that is hot as ****!!!! thats almost boiling temperature. And by the way, if you return it or not, download nvidia system tools 6.02. i use that for hw temp monitoring, it is excellent!!
and imagine if you overclocked your GPU, youd get to like 105 degrees celsius. lol -
you need to prop this laptop up in order to get proper ventilation under it. the HD temps will periodically hit 60C for me but thats under heavy file transfers within the disk
-
Okay What Im going to do is run 3dmark06 and post a score and run Crysis for the exact same time I did before but with the notebook propped up, I will come back with the tempatures and score then. Then You guys can help me and see if i need to exchange it for another one

if your hd hits 60 degrees, that too hot. a few degrees warmer and its fried. my hd doesnt go over 40 degrees on full load transfering files and such.
imo, if you have to go through the trouble of proping it up, and watching the temps that closely, i wouldnt keep it.
id say the toshiba x305, it has no problems and can be upgraded to be better than the 7811 -
Okay I just ran 3dmark06 110 basic and got a 8769. The screenshot enclosed has the full benchmark. Based on the score, 95 degree C tempature playing crysis demo on medium with 1920x1200 for 1 hour, 2887 model. What do you guys think I should do? -
what temp did you get when running 3dmark06
-
Max temp was 75 degrees running 3dmark06 basic 110
-
Are you overclocking?
Prop it up!!! -
I wish not to overclock, What should I do? Exchange it? I just ran Crysis for 6 minutes and the GPU got a max of 83, please read all my posts before Thanks
-
yea exchange it, something is interanlly wrong, something was just seated wrong.
-
Thank you very much everyone, I am going to exchange it monday or tuesday and come back with a new one and new benchmarks/temps. gonna ask bestbuy for a 2888, gonna try a 2887 again. Thanks and be ready for more benchmarks and temps when i come back with the new one! Thanks!
-
I've gotten my GPU up to 101C and it still hasn't froze.
-
motherboard is gonna die within 3 months if the temp is consistently
over 70c. -
3dmarks is weak
use furmarks to burn things up. 5 mins of furmarks can make you computer over 90-95C...
