it has a lower end video card...either thats a typo or this is just retarted.

If thats a typo than go for it otherwise just forget it. GPU is more important than CPU and you can always upgrade the CPU a year or two from now but if your GPU is too slow it won't matter how much you upgrade your lappietop

it has a 9800 gts 512. thats pretty much standard for the gateway 78xx series. whats low end about it. i think the topic has been beaten to death that the extra 512 of memory on the 'top end' 9800gts 1024meg has almost zero difference on todays games and because of the architecture of the 9800 gts itself. if u are talking about the 'new' 260m and 280m well thats another thing. though they are based on the g92 design.
well the 78xx series are pretty up and down regarding specs. compared to 7811, this has a better cpu, slower hard drive etc etc. u get the picture.

Why not just buy a P780x-u from the USA, sell the processor, buy a T9400 with that money and a little extra, do the same for a blu-ray drive and you've got that notebook with the extra Vram and an extra 1GB system RAM.

    Hello Everyone,

Thank you guys for quick and warm response to my question. I do
    appreciate this.

Saying "sweet" I was thinking about CPU, the WUXGA panel, build-in Bluetooth and Blu-Ray drive. Frankly, I overlooked the GPU ( how could
I do this, I don't know ) and didn't care about RAM, anyway I would
upgrade it up to 8 GB, that was my plan. Also I would get big two hard
drives and put them in RAID 0.

I was wandering, where I can get this model and why it's so hard to
find. I don't want to go to Japan to buy it over there, it too far.
Well, in such case, wiser would be to wait a little longer and perhaps
get something newer and maybe even better.

I need decent machine to do photo and video thing. Whether I get it
now or in not too distant future, it doesn't matter.

Thank you so much for your opinion....Cheers...

    Why not buy this...
    http://www.jr.com/gateway/pe/GTW_P801U/
Sell the P8400 thats in it for $200 or so, buy a T9400 or the likes, get a Blu-ray drive for $175. Buy a bluetooth module for like $30 or so. Get your two drives you want in RAID0, and I don't know why you want 8GB RAM since thats about $800 just to upgrade to..
