Has anyone else noticed that when a disc is inserted into the DVD ROM drive and it's spinning, you can't rest your palms on the keyboard palm rest on the left side without the DVD making a grinding sound? I have the slot loader DVD drive on mine.
Also, the right button on te trackpad seems loose or something. It rattles even when I type.
With all of the issues this machine has out of the box, I really think I am going to demand a replacement when I get a call-back from Gateway on Monday.
I haven't seen any other posts from folks about problems with the P-Series, so perhaps I just got an uncommon lemon.

There are other posts on this. It happens with mine, and everyone else's, just do not push on the right side of your laptop when useing the dvd drive, which is'nt used that often ecept for movies, and in that case, I would hope you are relaxing sitting back watching your movie.

Does that only concern the slot-loading units or is this issue also present in tray drives?

It happens on both, the plastic is kinda weak right above the spinning disk, put a little weight on it and there you have it, on biggy
