I have a P-171X FX....I'm trying to install windows 7. I was able to install win 7 home 64 no problems when my drives were setup into 2x250GB RAID 0. That was about 6 months ago. I recently bougtht a new SSD that I put in and went to install windows but the optical drive has crapped the bed and doesn't work. So I've downloaded an ISO of windows 7 pro (moved my windows 7 home to desktop and got a new version of windows 7 pro online). I did the USB flash trick to my external 80GB USB HDD and made it bootable and copied the iso over.
When I boot up windows starts it's setup and process and I can select languages and then when I click the big install now button it tries to install but stops and says:
"A required CD/DVD device driver is missing"....and it won't go any further. It sees the SSD drive, and it sees external (because I browse them) but I have no idea what driver it's looking for.
I've pulled the DVD drive out so it's not even there. I've put the 80GB external in the laptop with the SSD (2 bays, both drivers are SATA) and again same issue.
I have no idea what driver it's talking about, there isn't a CD/DVD drive to begin with!

Well I was able to install windows 7 ultimate with no issues...but windows 7 pro will not work. Ultimate just breezes past the driver section and continues on, but my windows 7 pro doens't have the drivers or something. Kinda angry...I went and spent money for the pro edition when I could just use ultimate in and crack it...well MS I tried being legit
Does anyone know where the drivers folder is on ultimate/pro? Maybe I can copy the files from the ultimate into the pro iso...
