and sound is working fine but when system goes into sleep and wakes up sound is gone. To restore sound restart is required.
I looked for some drivers that I could use with win 7 but I got nothing. Does anyone of you know exactly what kind of chipset is used for IDT/Sigma sound card ??
Windows7 driver shows up as HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO DRIVER but when looked up in properties it says Realtek

yeah i have the same problem with my 6860, seems to be a proper issue with some laptops, i haven't come across a solution yet tho, it also does the same thing when you go into hibernate mode.

I have been noticing the same thing on my 6860, finally narrowed it down to the laptop going to sleep. Luckily thats the only hicup I have found.

same here, but you can go to device manager disable/enable and sound is back.
better than restart on my book -
That is better, thank you for that.

I had the same issue on my p6831 fx and I fix it with this driver I found here -> http://uploadkeep.com/r2xloolty0kc/gateway_p-6860fx__p6831fx_audio_windows_7_x64.zip.html I'm pretty sure the P171 has the same sound chip in it.
Drives work on both 32bit and 64 bit windows 7.
